Use mine all the time, Was a very nice gift.
|
I've never made one, but my aunt had given me one. I've never used it because I don't cook my potatoes in the microwave.
I like the idea of using it for tortilla and rolls. |
If you've never seen one, here's a picture of a popular pattern for them -- for fabric requirements click on "enlarge" then scroll to the second picture.
http://www.quilt-kits-online.com/pro...p?prod=LEP9309 There is also a batting made specifically for these now by Warm Company, called "Warm Tater." |
LQS near where I live sells them for $5, owner says she has to make up a new batch just about every week.
|
$5.00 for the kit, $8.00 finished!
|
Afriend of mine made them and charged 15.00 each and everyone seemed okay with that
|
Does it use a special batting or is it just 100% cotton bating?

Heres a picture of the ones i do... sell them for 13.75 with a nylon net scrubbie...use them to keep rolls warm, corn on the , sweet potatoes, tortilla . There so many uses.. i didn't want to look at another at christmas time.. i made so many..

I don't use any batting in mine. Just cotton quilt fabric for the outside and flannel for the lining. Make sure everything is 100% cotton, including thread. No batting would cut down on the cost and this works fine. This is what I've seen at craft shows around here. I don't remember what the price was.

I like the idea of the nylon scrubby. How do you make those?
