I go To The Sea To Breathe 06-07-2010 08:01 AM

I have only made charity quilts so far, and scrap quilts. The only time I purchased fabric has been like FQ from here or a panel, or FQ from my LQS, 2 or 3 at a time. And my charity quilts have been lap size. But someday when all the fabrics line up I will doi one for my bedroom and one for everyone of the kids and all my special friends and my 3 sisters. This is if I can live to be several hundred years old. LOL

Depending on the size $80 to $120. But I don't buy at JoAnns.
Usually quilt store fabric or ebay.

I would have to say mine averages $200-$300 and that includes backing and batting. I'm not buying much fabric any more. I have so much in my stash that I need to use. I only buy fabric if I need something special that I don't have.

Mine have all been couch size, or smaller for the grandkid ones. I think I've usually spent about $60 or so for each.

I think I spend on the average about 70-150.00 on fabric for a quilt. I just finished a top for my son, it was king size and I have 150.00 in fabric. I am spoiled..I love nice fabric..but am a bargain hunter. Our LQS is way to expensive their fabric starts at 10.00 a yard. I refuse to pay that.

Never really thought about it. Don't know if I really want to know!!!  I buy, but yet still end up pulling from stash so really don't know.

As little as possible right now. If I had more $$ the sky would be the limit if I had a fabric that I couldn't live without.

My current quilt, the cost of thread, it is scraps, the previous, about 50.00 including batting. I try to keep everything under 100.00 including the batting. I get fabric off Ebay, Esty, at garage sales, thrift shops and such. I will piece the back, and that also helps save on cost. (Plus I like the look of the back pieced.) My patterns and books are even used!

I have to stay on a budget, but I don't feel like I have compromised in quality. I tend to make art, scrap or crazy quilts and I like how the challenge of buying "altenatives" leads to creativity.

I usually spend around $150 in fabric just for the top. But I do buy extra, to build up a little stash. For instance, if the pattern calls for 1 yard, I'll buy 2 yards.

probably between 250 and 500 for queen size quilts...some LOTS more, some maybe less...this year i've been doing great, using my stash and not buying other than batting, so this years quilts have been much less expensive...bad news is though, i've about run out of decent size pieces, and tired of my stash...almost time to start buying again :)
i am almost done piecing a queen size flannel quilt for my sister, all out of scraps, and it is turning out great...will post pics soon!
