I have one!!! DH is in the process of putting a top on it with tiles. It'll go out by the BBQ. I found it in a woman's yard (she was having a garage sale). She'd had it out there for 5 yrs and sold it to me for $3.00!!!!

My hubby made a table from an old Singer treadle base. He loves that table... me, not so much. But only because he put bolts right through the pretty wood top! Go for it. Then show us pictures!

Absolutely buy it. I have seen many tables made of the old treadle legs. They look great.

Yesterday, I drove past an antique store. Out front they had old Singer treadle legs. There is no machine or cabinet - just the bottom part with the foot pedal and the side legs.
Would it be weird to buy this and make a table or something from it? Or an old fashioned cabinet (that looks like a sewing machine cabinet) to hold supplies? One set actually is only the sides legs, without the foot pedal or wheel. Would it be weird to buy these and make a desk of it? |
I do have a table made from a treadle base. It has the peddle still attached & a width of finished wood fastened to the top. I set my sewing machine on it.

Funny that you mention it - and that is not weird at all! My parents have one of those in their backyard, and I have told them to keep it for me because I want to make a table out of it. I love things that are re-purposed that way - and it is so green! Please share a picture if you end up doing this project.
