Watson if you click on the link you posted then there is a box that says visit. Follow that link to her gallery. I have several of these designs on my bucket list. I can't wait to see what you do with it.

if you click on free pattern, on the top of the page, you will see that these are made with appliques. The particular one you are interested in is stretched on canvas. It is a small 8" X 24" quilt used as a wall hanging. Very pretty. Just hit the Visit button to find out the particulars.

So, while I'm asking questions, this is machine pieced....how in the world do you machine piece something like that?
http://www.bryerpatch.com/images/qui...tion1_411k.jpg Is each semi-circle cut out and then pieced onto the preceding one? So, starting at the lower left corner, you would begin with the dark blue and then the lighter blue strip and then the green/black strip, etc? And, you'd have some Y seams here and there where you would sew sections together? Any insights? Watson |
If you would like to try one of her applique patterns for free, try this flower one:
http://www.doodlepress.com/free-pattern.php maybe you can then create your own ribbon after learning the technique? worth a try. :) oops...sorry. same link as Nerys. Thanks for this...I'm going to try it myself. |
I wasn't looking at that quilt from bryerpatch earlier, but this one shouldn't be too difficult at 30x30.
Draw a similar design on A4 paper, number each section, starting at the bottom left. Scan and print at 300%, you will probably get 9 pages to tape or glue together. Cut out each piece of the enlarged pattern, one by one, then use as a template to cut the fabric, include seam allowances. Pin/glue together and sew. Or - you could fold the seam allowance first on one side, and lay & pin in place, sew with a tiny zigzag, blanket or straight stitch. |
Watson I have looked at many of these same designs and wondered how they could have pieced them. I have tried some others I have no idea. I would love to find a class on how to do some of these things.

I took one of her classes at Rd2Ca and it was a blast!! It is paper pieced using glue and templates, you really need the book, but once you see how she does it, it is really easy and fun. You can get all kinds of ideas!!
