On another side of Huskvarna, our town had one of their lawnmower factories, just built a huge new building less than 5 yrs. ago, a few weeks ago, everyone got word that they will be out of jobs by end of Aug. as they are moving everything back to either North or South Carolina where their corporate headquarters are. Think they said around 400 people out of work and there is none around here with that pay! Just like all the other big companies, don't care about the "little" people.

I bought a Saphire 870 in Sept 08. it was expensive and I did a lot of research including asking other members of this group what they thought of it. I was delighted with it and did a lot of sewing on it till the end of April this year when it would only sew in reverse. I rang the shop where I bought it and she asked me to take it in so she could check it was not something easily rectified, some hope. Well she sent it away to be repaired somewhere in the midlands, I live in England by the way, and that was the last I saw of it. After numerous phone calls, I dont blame the shop, I was promised a new machine, an 875 model as they no longer do the 870 by the importers, this was to arrive within 3 to 5 days, well their time is up I again rang today to be told they dont know when it will arrive. I have been told Husqvarna have moved there outfit lock stock and barrel from one country to another and this is the cause of the problem. The motto on the sewing machine box said Husqvarna keeping the world sewing, what a laugh. If I could find the address of the managing director he will be getting a stinking letter. On the bright side I am in the fortunate position to buy another machine as I was getting rather down about this I do have a couple of old machines but well they are not the same so I bought the new Janome Horizon and its a beauty.
I intend to tell everyone who will listen about Husqvarna, its not just machines one cant get hold of but I have had the extension table on order for two months too fortunately the Janome comes with one.

12 yrs ago my sis bought a new brotherpc6000,had problems soshe took it back to the dealer, after months of excuses ,he gave her a loaner, more exp.BUT it took embroidery cards which she didn't get with it so it's pretty muuch a straight stitch machine.to top it off, the nexttime they called to check, the place was gone !no warning ,nothing

I hope you get everything worked out with your machine. Congrats on your new one. I hope you love it.

Hope you get this resolved; best thing I can suggest is that you document your chronology in writing and send it to everyone and anyone affiliated with the corporate office as well as the store you have been dealing with. Since you bought a new machine maybe you can suggest settling the matter for some money back for the machine they lost?!? - and spend that on more fabric

I am happy to report that my new Husqvarna has at last been delivered after a few more phone calls and e-mails. It looks lovely now I have to get used to it again as there are a few differences between it and my Janome which I have to say is lovely to use to do free motion quilting on.

I don't know what that person was talking about, moving out of the country...that was a lie. The machines are made in Sweden and the home offices are there.

I agree with quilter53's response...our dealer here reported in a presentation to our guild that there are now NO sewing machines manufactured in Europe at all...not anywhere.

In addition, she said that Singer has bought out not only Pfaff (a few years ago) but just lately also Huskvarna. I'd wondered why Singer had dropped their high end machines...it's because the other two lines already have better quality ones so they're reducing competition.

Maybe you can check with the Singer company to see what the story is.
