I was cleaning out and rearranging my sewing area and I kept finding more and more fabric, patterns, etc. I finally decided I was more than addicted. I think I might have to go to a 12 step program to stop this madness! LOL

LOL another one gets bit by the bug (quilting bug that is) :D:D:D

dotcomdtcm 10-12-2010 01:47 PM

Some quilters plan a quilt and go out & buy their stuff. Others collect fabric & think "what can I do with this". Both styles work!!

gollytwo 10-12-2010 01:48 PM

You're one of many
I like to think all the money I spend keeps America safe for democracy

RkayD 10-12-2010 01:48 PM

Me Too! I was thinking about getting rid of some stuff. I'm having anxiety just thinking about it..but I'll NEVER get thru it all.

CarrieAnne 10-12-2010 01:48 PM

Im really bad too!!!!!

KatFish 10-12-2010 01:48 PM

Your not an addit. You just collect fabric and notions. At least thats what I tell DH. lol

luvTooQuilt 10-12-2010 01:48 PM

I'm right there with you..I cleaned up my room this weekend- Hubby got me more storage and new lighting so I had to clean up and move stuff around.. I found at least 8 packages of OLFA 45mm Rotary blades the 5 pk ones.. five of the 60 mm, 5 pks..Three un-opened rotary cutters.. Man o Man, my list goes on.. Found templates I never new I had.. Yikes!!

virtualbernie 10-12-2010 01:48 PM

I'm part of the club too! And it doesn't help when folks on this board post sales they've seen.

craftybear 10-12-2010 01:49 PM

We all have lots of things in the quilting books, fabrics, notions, gadgets, you name it we have to have it!

jcqlnurcheck 10-12-2010 01:54 PM

I am glad that I am not alone. The really sad thing is that I had given my two sisters and niece each a huge plastic bin full of stuff. I guess I better get busy.

Granna of 5 10-12-2010 01:55 PM

Is there a cure for it? The adds at the bottom of my page is Become a Drug Counselor, Drug Rehabilitation, and Drug Rehab Treatment... It does not mention our sickness. I am overloaded with fabric and love every piece of it.

I had to find a way to keep myself organized. Sometimes it takes me forever to get the right fabrics I want for a certain project so I made a book to carry with me. It was a small photo album from the dollar store that I covered (Michelle's quilts in progress). I keep swatches that I have grouped or fabric I love and am looking for coordinates. Others are pieces of paper with a projects type and measurements that I am looking to find a fabric family. I also keep a wishlist, a must have list, pattern numbers I want when they go on sale plus coupons and such. It has made a big difference on what I get accomplished.

SuziC 10-12-2010 02:20 PM

There is no program for us quilters...just more fabric sales!!

Nanax4 10-12-2010 02:52 PM

I do it to prop up the economy. It's the least I can do.

Ditter43 10-12-2010 03:15 PM

A while back after I cleaned up my quilt room, I determined I had enough fabric to make quilts continuously for the rest of my life (especially if it's a long one).
I decided I wouldn't buy any more fabric until I had reduced my stash by a lot. Ha Ha  All it takes is to see a really good sale and find fabrics I like, and I buy, buy, buy!!
But, all I have to do is look at the overwhelming volume of fishing supplies my hubby has, and I feel fine. He has never said one word about me buying fabric. He even bought me a new sewing machine for Christmas last year.(One I would never have spent so much money on!)
All in all, I don't consider myself an addict. I am a well supplied hobbyist! :D :D

wolfkitty 10-12-2010 03:20 PM

I like the well supplied hobbyist label, Ditter! The organizer is a good way to have fabric samples with you. Very nice!

Hello Suzan........I'm Patti and I'm a fabric addict. And I love it.

I like to think of ALL that moeny I have saved, by buying the fabric when I find great sales....it would have cost SO MUCH more if I hadnt gotten it on sale, so really, I am saving money every time I spend some....that makes sense to all of my quilting sisters, yes?

mama's place 10-13-2010 10:49 AM

I don't see that as a problem, I thought it was an asset. Just come and live next door to me and we can share fabric and ideas!!! LOL

TacoMama 10-13-2010 10:50 AM

I'm a fabric addict, too. Welcome to the club!

quilt3311 10-14-2010 03:33 AM

Its cheaper than an psychiatrist -- I fed my addiction at the AQS show last week. Should be good till spring. ha!

Psychomomquilter 10-14-2010 03:48 AM

Not quite there, BUT its close!

Late Bloomer 10-14-2010 04:26 AM

I am a sucker for any new gadget that comes around for quilting and justify it by thinking it will somehow perform magic and have everything come out perfect. Of course, it is the nut behind the wheel that makes it happen and not the wheel but I do have fun trying. Sometimes they actually do work! I keep telling DH that I just try to keep the economy going but he does not see it that way. THAT is another story altogether!!

katied772 10-14-2010 04:57 AM

My huge stash that I am now attempting to sell is proof of my addiction. I don't think I have ever gone into a quilt shop without buying fabric. More often than not the fabric I buy is not for a planned project; I just like it. So, since I don't know what I will do with it, I usually buy 3-5 or so yards, just in case I need that much. And buttons and trims are always calling me too. Just because. I think I am just a frustrated artist with no known talent.

Psychomomquilter 10-14-2010 05:04 AM

I did something the other day, went to joannes for something other than fabric, oh it was sooo hard to pass that fabric! which at that time didn't have much money to buy fabric anyway, but if I did, wonder if I would have still passed it by???

Linda1 10-14-2010 06:37 AM

I am an addict also but at least it doesn't harm my body, family or friends. I am having a lot of fun and it helps to stay busy, otherwise I would be an old grouch.

SNUGQUILT 10-14-2010 07:05 AM

You guys are so funny! I recently emptied my sewing room, and felt the same way, only I didn't have time to even digest it...had to get painting and put new flooring in. When I put things back, I plan to be MUCH more organized, and I'm sure that I'll need to ahem....'weed' out because I know that I could be right there with you as far as the 12-step program!

Prissnboot 10-14-2010 08:14 AM

I refer to my local JoAnn's fabric store as the crack house!!!

Anna O 10-14-2010 08:27 AM
