You have no idea how much, this lady has so many health problems and quilting has helped her so much in less than 2 years and her work is wonderful as she is close to be a bit OCD but her family absolutely back her to the enth and love her work but her GD most of all, it has given Ceri the GM such a thrill and feels so proud.

I learn all kinds of things on this forum. :)

GrandDaughter's 1st quilt
 

My 12yr Granddaughter made her 1st quilt this past weekend. It was I think it's called a Pillowcase Quilt (no boarder or binding just batting & turned right side out) she had so much fun picking out fabric from my stash and lining the squares up for her design on my board. I'm going to attempt to post a couple of the "Pride" pictures I took of her.
P.S. the quilt has a 2 fold purpose 1 being it's for one of my dogs, the other it is for me to practice FMQ SITD

I have ready here on the Forum so many lovely stories about you GDs learning to quilt with you but here in the UK is is not so common as so many of our Mums n GMs don't know how to use a sewing machine themselves! So sad so this is why I started my own little free sewing classes called "Sew-n-Sew". The 1st thing I do is to show them how to clean, set up their machine and change their sewing needles and when I ask what they want to sew they take one look at the other ladies sewing away at their quilts and they say I want to make one of those, and they do, it's lovely and here you can see why I enjoy it. http://s12.photobucket.com/user/madc...?sort=3&page=1

Your are a real treasure, I taught a class for U3A for some years and oh the joy in seeing people expand their skills.You are right about the youing ones not having so many older family members to pass on the craft, what a shame as Welsh quilters were so talented.Long may your teaching continue, bless you, Letty x

This was a fun read so far....I have missed a few days of reading this board; and seeing the "chuffed" comment made me go straight to this one first. I, too, didn't know what that meant. Learn something new every day.

I, too, am teaching a young person how to quilt, from start to finish. I sponsored a quilting get-together in May, and she was the only one who participated all the way through. I am so proud of her. She made a compete quilt, even though small; and has started a double wedding ring and is doing great on it. Doing the happy dance here.....
