Here's a LOL for everyone on the hunt for HF blades--I called a store here in Denver last evening and inquired about the availability. The clerk tol me, in a very astounded-sounding voice, "I know we are out and so is our warehouse. Those things have become a very high-demand items in the last 2 days!" The bewilderment in her voice just made me really LOL!

Harbor Freight was awesome, I bought 5 packages, they will have to order more and they have a huge supply in their warehouse.
this is for the Raleigh ,NC area anyway. worth the 25 minutes, worth the $1.49 each I spent $8.04. So I think I did good! and plan to go back later as well!

I would go for the Olfa blades myself... I know what I am getting with Olfa!

Not true for me either, I have been using them with the paperpiecing and am so impressed! I just finished 13 winter blocks, 4 FWS blocks and have 26 more cut out to do and still cutting like butter. I will definetly be purschasing more when the time comes which may be me be a while as they are so sharp and holding up wonderfully.

Admittedly I'm the gal who hasn't used her rotary cutter yet (long story involving nerve damage) but the idea of finding something for a better price attracted me, so good for you!

Then I got curious and did some googling and found a blog where the gal mentioned, maybe she's even on this board, heck, I'll just copy what she said (after she mentioned Harbor Freight)
"Another source, with bigger packages of blades, is South Star Supplies - they have a larger selection. Harbor Freigh only has the 45 mm ones. Depending on size - you get 10 blades to a pack for $17.95 from South Star. Again - that wonderful price."

I have bought and used the HF blades. They work perfectly, no skipping, they are as sharp as a tack and do not bruise my mat in any way. What a find. I'm ecstatic. If you look at the blades from HF and the Fiskar blades, you will see that it is the exact same product. Both are made in China. I haven't looked at the manufacturer on the Olfa blades, but I did check fiskars and it's all the same product. They work like a charm. Thank you also for the mention of South Star Supplies, I will check their site as well. I am tinkled pink and happy as a peach over these blades. I am a skeptic and my husband and sons even moreso. We were all thrilled to discover not only the price of the HF blades, but even better, they are the exact same product and they work amazingly well.

Any brand of blade will work but the Gingher blades are Teflon coated so don't expect regular blades to cut as smooth.
