You know it's sitting right there in front of you. lol

scjoan 08-21-2011 08:32 AM

Look under some fabric.

I lost not one but 2 machine foot pedals. Bought a new one a month ago. Last week while looking through the fabric for a certain piece, one of the foot pedals showed up. Still don't know where the other is. But hey I found one.

You are not alone! :?

A Poem:
Inspired by the Woes and Wisdom of Them Who Lose

Where, oh, where can her rulers be?
Where, oh, where can they be?
They came home in the bag with the brand new book,
Now none at all can she see!

She's searched and dug in the sewing room,
On the chairs and behind the door.
She's moved everything to take a look,
Until she can't look anymore!

Dear BellaBoo's like the rest of us
Who lose things and would like to cuss.
We never put keys right back on the hook
Then rummage the house in a fuss.

We've lost borrowed books beneath the couch
Sent librarians into a grouch.
Paid outrageous fines for a full three months
"I'm sure I returned them!" we vouch.

Offer up prayers to good St. Jude
Or curse the gremlin brood
Beg the family unit for help
Until they are cross and rude.

You'll never see the rulers and book
'Till you get to the last place you look!

LOL. Wisdom we all need . Good one

AliKat 08-21-2011 11:26 AM

Gee, you must be the only one this happened to. [?] LOL

I don't know of a single quilter who hasn't had something similar happen. Sometimes we just don't admit it.

The worse thing would be to loose your sewing machine. rulers and books can be borrowed or replaced fairly easily.

There was a topic awhile back where someone lost her sewing machine when she moved. I never did hear if she found it or not...

javin22 08-21-2011 11:29 AM

I loose stuff behind my cutting table.

Funny! I did! to hubby!

BellaBoo 08-21-2011 05:35 PM

I found it!   A guild member called me to ask if I'd bring a Go die to a sewday tomorrow so she could use it with her Go. I went to get it and there was my package with the book and rulers! It was sitting in the middle of the rack pretty as you please having a grand old time being with all the dies. The bag was about the same color as the dies so I never noticed it. I don't remember putting it there but I'm sure I moved it out of my way and thought that would be a good spot for now. ;-) DH suggested I put a security camera in my sewing room and turn the tape on everytime I went in so I could play back the tape later and see what I did with stuff.

I love this! Do you mind if I share it with my guild members? I am framing it and putting it on my sewing room wall if that's okay with you. You are so talented!

Greenheron 08-21-2011 06:17 PM

So glad you found your package. My mother used to say to me (age has nothing to do with my MIA's)"If it was a snake, it would have bitten you." Please use the doggerel verse in any way you like. Best wishes, Jane

craftybear 08-21-2011 06:28 PM

Soooooooooo happy you found it.
Sweets to all of friends, new project from new book, and using new ruler, send pictures and and and a long list .......

cyniree 08-22-2011 05:44 AM

Been there done that, several times. I feel your frustration.

TootieAnn 08-22-2011 05:48 AM

This happens to me way too often! Let us know when and where you find it! Just saw post that you found them. I'm glad!

sewhat540 08-22-2011 05:53 AM

Do you have quilts made already? Well, look between them.
I purchased jeans and washed them, hung one up and folded the other to put away in the closet. I didn't know where it went from there. So almost 2 months later, I found them stuck between two lap top quilts I made. I also picked those quilts up at least three times to move them, and then finally the quilts fell over and guess what I found??? Of course, the jeans. Have a great day.

colleen1978 08-22-2011 12:09 PM

Ahhh...that happens to all of us, or at least me! I always put things in a special place so I won't forget....

sewwhat85 08-22-2011 06:47 PM

CAS49OR 08-23-2011 08:36 PM

joycet 08-25-2011 11:18 AM

Oh my goodness. I thought I was the only one that did things like that!!! Hope you find it all very soon!!

I was all set to start making the pattern, I guess I will be deep cleaning my sewing room instead. :-(

You have joined my club. Do that frequently.

And they're laughing maniacally as they watch you try to find them on their hidden cameras. Happens to me all the time.

ging10ging 08-27-2011 04:28 PM

Try to trace your steps if you can remember that day and you may find it. I've done that several times and found what I'm looking for. I also bought a pattern to make a table deco of hibiscus flowers for $10. and am still looking for it that killed me so several yrs later I purchased it again and walked in the house & right to my sewing machine. I hope I never come across that other one. I have a habit of picking papers up and putting them in between my fingers some for garbage, bills, etc. once even yrs ago threw out my hubby's paycheck luckily I went looking for it and found it before it went out so I have tried to be careful but things happen. Good luck finding you would think a ruler would be hard and easier to find. Sue

Great Grandma 08-30-2011 05:35 PM

I do that quite often. Many times I will be fuming. Hubby will ask what is wrong. He finds it right away. Frustrating, but saves time.
