JoAnn always give an inch or two more. Fabric .Com never just give what you order. Several do this. It is not the person waiting on you, it's the unwritten policy of the fabric world.

This started in "The Good Old Days" when Sears was Sears & Roebuck.

How about that. I'm originally from Illinois and they remodeled (to upgrade) and I didn't like the store. Nobody helped. So, I moved to Wisconsin and the same ==== thing goes on. I refuse to go back to WalMart and Big K is getting almost as bad. It is not just WalMart and Big K. Stores don't hire enough employees to serve customers.

I guess the old saying "If you need help, help yourself." is still being used.

How lucky you are! Wal-Mart here does NOT do that. It's always from tip to tip and not a hair more!!!!!!!

I have good luck with the measurements done by Hobby Lobby. I'm not sure I get 3" extra, but I do get more than a yard. I really have to watch the cuttings at JoAnn's now. They are super picky and sometimes they don't match the under layer of calico to the top layer. That can be off over an inch at times.

Ill have to watch and see if it happens when I buy Fabric
so many Wal Mart's that I go to doesn't sale material anymore but I have read that they might be starting up again

just read the one about Joann your right I bought a yard a couple days ago for a class (making a purse) well when I went to even up the edges it was off over a in so I was left with less material than I needed, Im going to start watching and if it happens again going to say straighten up bottom and top before you cut please

My local Walmart does the same thing. The main craft gals always do this. The "floaters" do not. I know the main girls schedules and go buy fabric when they are working. :)

Oh good grief!

The store manager does not want cut fabric returned because it was crooked and cheated the customer out of the amount she paid for. The extra inches is far cheaper to give then have cut fabric returned or complaints sent to the main office about being cheated on cut fabric. I was told the general rule was to cut at least 1 inch more and give the last quarter yard on the bolt as extra.
