I thought about what I would like to learn. How about how to FMQ on the back side of the quilt following the design printed on the backing fabric.

I need ideas for 4-5 mini workshops to be presented in 1-1 1/2 hours. Do you have an idea I could use. I think the best thing we ever did in our guild workshop was to make portable ironing boards. They were simple to do, fast and I'm still using mine several years later. |
How about a block repair party - bring your botched block and let somebody help you fix it? or how to make the blocks you have all the same size so the blocks fit together.

Hey Pegleg in Valley Center--if your guild has not hosted the BLOCKHEADS from Ottawa, KS for a show/talk--DO SO! They are a group of 6 women that hold their own group challenges for some of the most creative quilts I've ever seen! And talk about funny! Our guild had them at a special meeting just last week--their talk was about 1.5 hours and we were all just rolling with laughter and their creativity was just inspiring. Definitely recommend! Not a workshop but will certainly pull fellow Kansans out of the winter doldrums.

The local quilt shop has people come and do demo's. The person could be from a bead shop and demo how to embellish a quilt block. Or someone from a yarn shop to demo how to do couching or needle punch or felting. One lady demo'ed how to make assorted picnic items, ie,napkins, tablecloth and bibs from toweling. Anything goes as long as it is quilting/sewing related. How about quilted post cards?

You could have a mini session on the different methods of printing pictures onto fabric and then how they can be used in quilts, purses, pillows, tote bags, etc.
