I'd lay out your tops choices....1/2" border or whatever of your choices. Take a photo with camera. You'll discover very quickly which you prefer. I work best with concrete examples to help me decide. The wall hanging is very pretty. Wonder how it would look scrappy?

I would do a prairie point edge using the same light fabric as the background.

I can see a single simple red bird appliqued inside the branches to set off the red border. Perfection!

Red binding, absolutely!

You have perfect design in the quilt. A lot of work on the sides would take from the design. I would just do the binding. I think it is gorgeous. I see several patterns in it.

..... or how about ghost-quilting the bird in place using a contrasting thread. Likewise quilt-in presents in under the tree. This way, you don't take from the simplistic beauty of the tree, yet have some added detail for the up-close-and-personal viewer! |
Well, thanks to this post I went out and bought the Quilter's World issue. Loving all the fun idras in this one.

I would border in the red and bind in the green. Would give the quilt more pop.

I suggest just binding, no added border or multiple colors. The more you add to it, the more it will take away from the tree. And the tree stands alone very well. Your picture already looks very nice as it is!
