Your grandkids are getting a another very caring adult, it is tough to share grandkids, I know, I am guilty of the same feelings.

EMSGRANNY, YOU ARE ONE LUCKY PERSON! How easy it would have been to say something. When you haven't been feeling well, it is so easy to feel sorry for yourself, too. But you observed the grandkids playing with the new quilts and realized that they and your daughter are the important ones here. And who, knows? You may end up with a new quilting buddy! Congratulations on handling a situation with such grace.

You should actually be happy :), not sad. A lot of people think in this same way (quilt police  )but don't even know it!! I would be happy to have you look at my quilts...lol!

Many years ago my grandmother made all of her grandchildren quilts when they married and would also make a smaller one for each new great grandchild. She was never a perfect quilter (actually by today's standards her quilts would be laughed at ) but 40+ years later, those quilts are still going strong and are now being used by great-great grandchildren. She used whatever colorful fabrics she could find, hand sewed the squares, rectangles, etc. together with crochet thread, lined them with flannel or old wool-coat fabric, edged them with big fat bindings, and tied them with yarn. They are wonderful to sleep under because I like heavy blankets and they are nice and heavy.

Wonderful post to read first thing in the morning. And your grandchildren are so lucky to have another grandma in their lives to love them. Children can never have too many people loviin them.

Don't sweat it, it sounds to me like you are a very nice person.

If I find myself looking at another persons quilting, I find something good to say about it, because you know they are watching you.

I think we as grandparents get jealous from time to time but I think you handled it beautifully. Forgive yourself, after all you're only human.

Your family is blessed to have you as their Grandmother! You handled the situation with grace and nobody's feelings were hurt - in fact nobody was even aware of the inner turmoil you were going through. You turned a negative into a positive!

Luckily no one can hear our thought so give yourself a break. She may have beat you to the punch with I Spy but there is still other cute designs. How about larger Bug Jar for a boy and a Candy jar for a girl or switch them around depending on the child. Their I Spy quilts are good for right now but they will be needing bigger ones later.

I agree, you sound like just the type of Grandma those kids should have, and you can just make them quilts too, just not I Spy ones.... Don't be so hard on yourself.
