I never saw a quilters' law about which side to machine sew down. Did I miss that one? 'Cause if I did, I still don't care.

I made this mistake this week and left it and hand stitched. I did extremely small stitches and took me longer than normal. It loo ked great . I did think about a fancy stitch .

Gee it would be a mistake for me if it were the other way around. I do all my bindings like that.

Sometimes I deliberately sew my bindings on like that. Just depends on the look I want. I'd hand stitch it down on the front if I were you. If any of the corners are so bad they'll drive you crazy to leave them alone, then fix them first.

Good luck, we do some things we just don't understand once in awhile.

What a terrific thought! I really like your friend's approach!!!

Machine stitch the binding to the front! :) It might not look quite as clean as stitching to the front and hand-sewing to the back, but if your stitches are neat and/or you use a decorative stitch, it can be quite attractive.

Unless it is an heirloom quilt - use a nice decorative stitch or blind or straight nice and even - your thread color may make a huge difference. This is my preferred way on children's quilts.

Finish it. If nothing else baste the binding to front so it meets you expectations the sew. An extra step but what the heck!

I am self taught.....the first two I made were done this way. Then I noticed that others did it differently. I still like my first ones! No one notices...not even me!

I have always hand sewn my bindings to the front.
