Well, I think you have just been put in charge of this 'little' get together, one for each section of the country!!

Sharing on this board is a wonderful thing. Every day I see kindness ,love and care.
Every night I watch the news the bad news, then just before going to bed I check this board for my happy thoughts. I do the same in the morning,The first thing before any one is up i check in.
I do not face book or twitter but getting the word out that there are still good people is wonderful.Thankyou for sharing with the world. right now we all need a big hug and this board is a place to get it.

Thanks for the post! Need someone close to me like this! I'm sure she's been blessed by your new friendship also!Congrats and Good luck on the wedding!

I agree that quilters are the kindest and most appreciative people I have met!! I feel the quilters on this board are truly the nicest and I feel I'm closer to some of you folks than my own family!! I can expect kind compliments and wonderful advice 110% of the time, usually in my case my family only pick apart the mistakes and expect to have quilts and other things I make because "it shouldn't take you that long to make it" I quilt and sew because it's stress reliever and this board has been the biggest support system since I joined. Just wanted to say thank you, too!!!

I would LOVE to meet a friend like that! Congrats to you on finding yours! :)

19angel52 04-06-2011 03:10 AM

..and thank YOU for sharing the story. I find it so true - most of the quilters I know are truly sharing people...and generous and kind.

Happy Tails 04-06-2011 03:12 AM

OH MY GOD you people have me bawling in my freaken coffee!! For some reason this post has touched my heart and I can't stop crying. Maaybe someday I'll have a quilting friend. Wendy

AnnT 04-06-2011 03:18 AM

These posts are so nice to read! I found myself wishing for a "Like" button! I don't post all that often but do stop in a time or two during the day to read and laugh and admire. The folks from this board I have had the opportunity to share pm's with have been great. I would love to meet one or more of y'all "live and in person" one day.

And I love the idea of Friendship Album for a wedding. I have been considering doing something similar for my daughter...
when the day comes.

DeeBooper 04-06-2011 03:27 AM

I am going to a quilting get together in May to meet some of those great people from this board....I can't wait! Glad you found someone nice to hang out with.

jeanneb52 04-06-2011 03:33 AM

Well now I'm laughing and crying! In my coffee too. No one quilts in my area either, so I know how you feel.

Thank you for sharing such a postitive note to our quilting day....I believe that all quilters have hearts of gold...most don't quilt to hoard their quilts..they give them from the heart to the hero's of our nation..to he homeless in our country..to children who are ill and to patients who are facing challenges none of us ever want to face...your new friend is above all of that and in the heart of platiumn....God bless her....blessings

gemmyfrog 04-06-2011 04:23 AM

I can't do without this board and all the encouragment I see given to others and so I'm encouraged too!

SandraD 04-06-2011 04:31 AM

That is so nice! You are lucky to have a quilting friend that you can actually spend time with. Mine are all here on this board. Non-quilter's just don't understand the passion for quilting like quilters do. You are blessed!

ljptexas 04-06-2011 04:34 AM

Hey, girl. That's Texas folk for ya!! Small town anyway..

xsquilter 04-06-2011 04:40 AM

Wendy (Happy Trails),Materialgirl got it right...we are all your "cyber" quilting buddies! I'm a few provinces away, but just "clicks" away on this board! What a great place for friendships!

quilt crazee 04-06-2011 05:20 AM

Very true! Remember YOU can think of things to do for your new friend, too!!

MillieMoseley 04-06-2011 05:22 AM

All quilters are totally blessed to have sites like this to get together with other quilters. The world is a better place because of all these wonderful sites.

Wow that is wonderful!!
Makes me feel lucky to becoming part of the Quilter's family :-)
I haven't reveive my first order of fabric yet :-(
It should be here tomorrow.

OmaForFour 04-06-2011 05:44 AM

I met a quilter in Georgia who has become the most wonderful friend I have! I met her here on the board! We share our lives with each other. We both have grandchildren and send pics. We email almost every day. I live in Maine so we have not met face to face YET. We pray for each other's needs, share recipes and everyday life events.
She has taught me a lot by sending me tutorials and advice. I don't know how I ever got this far in life without her!
She is my sister in Jesus Christ and I love her very much!

carolknows 04-06-2011 05:49 AM

She is kind to you for a reason. Takes one to know one. And I agree, the nicest people quilt, or quilters are the nicest people.

lillybeck 04-06-2011 05:52 AM

I too have met someone from the board and she was wonderful. Not only did I get to see all of her work she shared some fabric with me that I needed to finish some blocks, I have also been in contact with 2 others that are close by but everything keeps happening so I have not met them yet. I wanted to meet Bubblegum this week but yesterday I did something to my knee and now the doc has me on crutches and no driving.

pollym44 04-06-2011 05:55 AM

All quilter's are like that, well except for my 'Friend", are'nt they???

granny5 04-06-2011 05:57 AM

How wonderful for both of you. Finding a friend to share the same passion is a blessing. I would love to find someone to share with. The ladies I work with are wonderful and my "regular" friends are great, and I count myself lucky to have them-but they do not have the same desire to quilt as I do. We quilters are "special" and it takes another quilter to share that feeling. Enjoy your newfound friendship with your fellow quilter!

Met a quilter in Knoxville, Tenn, while awaiting the birth of my nephew. She called me Ms, I called her Tenn, We quilted together at her shop and she loaned me a Bernina to sew with at his house. She didn't know a thing about me, just that we were both quilters. She gave me instruction to make a quilt I loved in her shop. After 4 weeks, I made her a chocolate cake, returned her machine, took some pics and came home. She was without doubt the sweetest person one could meet. I still call her my friend.

joyce888 04-06-2011 06:12 AM

It's so nice to hear stories like this. I also feel like you'all are friends that I can count on for help and encouragement. I don't physically have anyone to quilt, share ideas, or go fabric shopping with; but I do think everyone here helps fill that void.

cafegold2 04-06-2011 06:15 AM

Wishing great weather for the weekend happenings in Texas. Any blocks not finished could be mailed later with a picture of the couple, and a self addressed stamped envelope with instructions.

mhansen6 04-06-2011 06:32 AM

That is wonderful. I agree that you meet the nicest people on this board.

I met a bunch of ladies from my area and we have started a quilting group. We get together once a month and they are so much fun. I just love the time I spend with them.

Alondra 04-06-2011 06:33 AM

Well spoken! Hugs to all my new "family"!

grandjan 04-06-2011 06:51 AM

I think you're right. There are so many nice people here and I've met so many more at quilt guild or quilt group meetings, at quilt shows and even at the shops. You run into a grouch now and then but surprisingly seldom. Must just be something in quilting that brings out the goodness in people.

DeniseP 04-06-2011 06:54 AM

When I sign on to this board I feel like I'm opening the door to a house full of friends. We all care and look out for each other.

mzmama 04-06-2011 06:56 AM

You are so very lucky to find a very special friend and she is lucky to have found you..
