I posted on my Facebook page this morning...something that I don't do too often....about how quilters are really some of the nicest people..
A woman that I met here on this board is turning into one of the nicest people I have ever met....upon talking through a few emails, she invited me to a guild workshop, lunch, and to a shop hop. She offered to do all the driving, and refused gas money(no small thing is this day and age)...she has openly shared her life with me, her passions, jokes, laughter, and her sorrows...even some of the mistakes she has made...she is so transparent and is such a kind and fun person. And just last night, out of the clear blue, she called and insisted that she come over and help me with the "wild hair" that hit me last week....one of my son's is getting married this Saturday....I decided I had to have 72 Friendship Album blocks ready for the guests to sign. (I will set them into a quilt top while they are on their honeymoon)......she will be coming tomorrow (and is bringing fresh eggs from her hens)....and all because she just wants to help..I mean, she isn't getting anything out of the deal....just wants to help.... And I am amazed...........I have looked for this attitude in friends before, and not found it. Only in quilters have I seen this unabashed desire to help, be a blessing, console, and encourage. So, to all of you here, who spread your positive encouragement, your smiley faces :-), your laughter and caring attitude... This quilter says thank you.......it is you quilters who have "restored" my faith in mankind....... |

I met someone on here and we spent a day shopping together and I can honestly say that she has become a friend. And I "met" someone else in another state via telephone. I agree with you. I don't have many true friends and they don't share my love of quilting. So it is so wonderful to have all these internet friends that we can share our joys and sorrows with. We get honest opinions that wouldn't come from those friends that are close to us. Thanks to everyone on the board from me too.

How fabulous to know that there are still some really good people about. I hope you both enjoy your selves, and that the wedding goes well.
|
There are a lot of the nicest people are on this board, arent there? It's the nicest place I've found on the internet.
|
Folks here are very nice - we are lucky.
|
I agree. I haven't been here long and have met so many fabulous people here.
|
This is a very good board for quilters. I have leaned so much from here.
|
I agree.....

I have always told everyone that "quilters" are the best people you will ever meet.
|
I think quilters come with more generous hearts than most! That is a wonderful quality to have, and when I read about various generosities on this board, it makes me strive to be better, also.
Congratulations on being able to make such a wonderful connection. |
Everyone I have met here has a heart of gold

Nice post. Love the positives!
|
What a great post to start my day! Thanks for sharing your connection with your quilty friend. I say the same thing about campers, too. I totally agree with your post. Thank you for posting this.

I have also found that the quilters here have hearts of pure gold. Never have I found such a group of people so willing to go out of their way for anyone. I talked with a member over the phone and I have to say that her caring and kindness came through the phone lines like I don't encounter in the 'real world'. She is a true gem!! Finding this site was the best thing that I have done, as I am now discovering this is where true friends are.
|
Yep, quilters are caring, loving and helpful people. In my book they are the best!!
|
I agree there are wonderfuL ppl here! In this day its hard to have true friends I thank you all!!!!
|
I work at a LQS. She has been in business for 10, almost 11 years, and has never received a bad check. We are located in kind of a hub area and people pass through traveling south for the winter. These people are from all over the country. When I first started working there I asked about taking out-of-state checks and she said "Definitely! Quilters are some of the nicest, most honest people I have ever met." And, I agree with her.
|
Aw, thats so nice!
|
I agree! ;)

I told my husband one time that I needed to take a sewing class.(This was in my pre-quilting days) And he asked why since I already was pretty good at it and I told him I needed to be around people that sew. They don't compete with each other, they help each other. Any class I've ever been in, every one there wanted everyone else to do well and have a great experience. Quilters are even more helpful and caring. God bless all of you!

I have always thought there were angels among us.This board has proven this to be so!
|
You are so right. The angels on this board are amazing. Recently my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer and my life has been so consumed and I wanted to make her a quilt to wrap up in, but so much for time to do that. So I asked if anyone would make a quilt for pay for Cathy and then the flood of care and love began. They ended up making two quilts one for Cathy and one for me. I have never had anyone make me a quilt AND they were awesome. People all over the world make blocks and Screwystewy on this board put them together and longarmed them. She uses it almost everynight and looks intently at all the different blocks.
Anyway, I always like to help people. My mum used to say " People are important, use every opportunity to help them". I read the board messages almost every day and thank God for all the angels on this board. Robert |
I so enjoy the board !!
  I check out alot of post, but don't always reply, because of a time frame I have, but I so love it here !! :-D   |
Cool!!

I am so glad that you have found a treasured friend! :-)
I have also met someone on this board that has changed my life for the better. She is now my sewing buddy or shopping buddy and we do one of those every chance we get!! I cherish your friendship MelindainTulsa! |

What a friendship you have found. I have moved around quite a bit but when I land somewhere new I find friends in a quilt group!

I Love this board!! |
I have met a couple of nice people from this board and we are now emailing each other. It is nice to be able to share with someone who understands your passion about quilting. I belong to a bom group that meets once a month, also a ufo group that meets once a month. I really look forward to these nights. Everyone has so many fun and interesting things to show and discuss. Some things are not even quilt related.
|
Thank you for sharing this with us :D:D:D
I agree, quilters are some of the best people!! |
I agree, quilters are a great group of people. I hope one day to meet a few in person.
|
I agree. Wouldn't it be great to have a quilt retreat for the peole of this board or we could call it a family reunion. I feel like family with a lot of people on this board.
That would be great. Robert |
that was put very nicely and I have to agree with you, even though I have never had the pleasure of meeting anyone on this board, they have been there for me in the past....so thanks for this posting and thank you for all the kind peeps on this board....quilters rock....

I agree :)

Wow, these posts made my day! I have always been a giving person, but not a quilter. I give by entertaining and comedic help or giving baked goods. In this day and age, giving someone a cake or cookies is not the best way to love with the numerous calories and most folks are fighting the "battle of the bulge!"
I'm so excited that I start my first quilt class tomorrow! So hoping that I meet some people like the ones on this board! |
