I would say go for it as well, but find that it is more of a "do what I say, not as I do" because I have fabric (Oriental in nature) that I just cannot bring myself to cut yet. I purchased one set in Lancaster about 5 years (gasp) ago and then several yards in Hawaii a year and a half ago. the pattern you have chosen is perfect for what you have.....so....GO FOR IT!

The first cut is the hardest. Make the quilt and share each step with us so we can oh and ah with you.
go for it my idea is when i sew it up i get more enjoyment out of it when its in a quilt then i can see the finished project

OK just send it to one of us and we'll do it! Yes it it very pretty and would look wonderful in that pattern but if you aren't up to it I'm sure one of us can do it, problem is you might not get it back. LOL
I have the same problem and often wait until another fabric comes along that will make a fabulous quilt block.
Go for it it is beautiful! Just think how much you will enjoy it made into a beautiful quilt!
This collection is wonderful in my eyes
I think the fabric and pattern are perfect for each other - go for it, I'm sure i will be beautiful, as it has largeer squares/blocks where your fabric will shine.
I have never had that problem. I've bought fabric that I loved and it may take me a while before I found the pattern that would do it justice but I'll enjoy it so much more show-cased in a quilt or wall hanging. It looks like you have a great pattern to use it with. Make yourself a Christmas present but getting this top done so that you can enjoy the fabric more often than you do now.
It is gorgeous fabric -- looks like purple background. I'm ALL into purple this year!
I have a good number of fabrics that I bought just because I love them. I also just want to use them for something spectacular, however..........my "spectacular" quilt may never happen. After my best friend died, and I had to clean out her stash....I realized if I don't use these fabrics they may end up on someone else's quilts someday! AND I WOULD HAVE MISSED OUT ALL THAT FUN OF USING THEM!!
So, my advice is USE THEM NOW! |

Gorgeous fabrics! I would read through all the pattern directions to make sure I understood everything before I started cutting. Then I would slowly take one step at a time and create my beautiful quilt. You can do it!

You can do it - but I admit I also have fabric that is hard for me to cut into (LOL) Good luck
I think you have a great pattern which will really show off your gorgeous fabric. Go for it. Don't think you can go wrong! Happy quilting.
I would make it and that way you can enjoy it more then it sitting in a cupboard where you have to take it out to enjoy it...there is no scch thing as perfection....it is perfect for you...don't worry about perfection...your never going to enjoy it if you wait...and it will dry rot if you just keep it without using it....go for it ...blessings
Use it before it fades.........then you'll really be bummed out. Your pattern is perfect to show off those prints.Get cuttin' honey!!!!!!!!!
I have fabric that I dread cutting. I did force myself to make something for me, I'm always doing for someone else.
I can see why you don't want to cut into this material. So beautiful. Just think of how beautiful the end result will be.
It was meant to be cut sewn by loving hands. |
I say go for it - I have had that problem too - but I have finally decided that I just go for it - if it doesn't work out - well then you get to start another one
THe fabric is beautiful, go ahead and make the quilt but keep this quilt out so you can enjoy it!
I have the same problem, always afraid to make the first cut. need to remind myself of the end result, a beautiful quilt from my hands.
As time goes on, I'm getting a little less attached and more.....what can i make from this and accomplish something.
I hear you but you have picked an amazing pattern. Go for it! I sometimes just can't decide how and when to use it.
Sandra, I so completely understand! And, thank you!!! I thought there was something wrong with me because I'm like that with nearly ALL my fabric, even my pre-cuts! Now I know I'm not alone! lol..... I'm a perfectionist to the extreme.... it's a problem... I just sit in my sewing room many times and marvel at the beautiful fabric rather than creating anything because I'm so afraid of ruining the fabric..... ! I think we need Frabraholics Anonymous! Thanks for sharing!

Pretty fabric I especially like the stripe. Sue
I love that fabric, I would have a hard time cutting it too. I have several pieces that I feel the same way about.
I love it and it's beautiful...it's hard to cut into it..
Go fot it . Your pattern and fabric are perfect for each other. Sit back and have a great time sewing.
I just loved this pattern

I was so surprised to open this message and see the pattern and fabrics you have chosen. I JUST finished a quilt with this pattern and I just LOVED it! It goes together real easy and you will love it for showcasing your fabric. I say if you love the fabric - it is time she showed herself off in a special quilt!
It's a beauty
I do that ALL the time. Especially with fabric for baby quilts.
That's beautiful- when I have fabrics that I really love, I'm always afraid I'll pick the wrong pattern to make, and it won't be the perfect quilt!
My friend and I are like that sometimes and we have solved our dilemma this way--I call her and ask her to come over to my house and make the 1st cut! And when she has something she is putting off cutting she will call me and ask me to come to her house and make the 1st cut-then we are off to the races. It will be beautiful-so just phone a friend!!
Your fabric is beautiful and when you make it using that beautiful pattern, no one will look at you funny with it wrapped around you. :-) I've had the same issue, I just had to cowgirl up and do it, it really does get you going, 'cause you want to finish the project. Best of luck,

mess it up. I just so much want perfection when its nearly impossible for me to achieve. I cant think of how many times I have pulled it out and looked pondered and put it back do you feel that way about your fabrics or do you just go for it. Happy Quilting, Sandra |
Well We are all waiting for you to cut it up and make your quilt. It is beautiful material, can hardly wait to see what you make.
..."Just Do It" Now doubt it's going to be a favorite of yours. Just look at the beautiful fabrics you have chosen for it. You'll love it so much more when you can cozy up in it during these cooler days ahead.
Just go for it!! You will do a great job and you will get to enjoy your fabric even more when it is out somewhere in your home everyday!
i have a shelf full of fabric i love so much i dont want to cut it , i think my New Years resolution is going to be that i use it!! we will see if that works
If you use it, you don't have it any more--my old attitude. My DIL once said "You bought it to use it, didn't you." A NEW concept..Use it. I finally realized the stores are full of fabric, and I can always get more that I love as much. Use it..and start another love affair!
