Go for it. Can't wait to see the finished product. No guts, no glory!!

patdesign 11-07-2011 06:52 AM

Love your fabric, but just think how much you will enjoy it once you incorporate it into a see everyday project. I like your pattern, it gave me some ideas how I might use some charm squares that I am having the same problem with:-)

frauhahn 11-07-2011 06:57 AM

It will be sooo beautiful when it's done-get at it!!

threadsdmr 11-07-2011 07:04 AM

Just think of how beautiful it will look in the design you choose!!!!

Carie 11-07-2011 07:10 AM

Beautiful fabric - can just see a quilt with matching drapes in the bedroom....

piepatch 11-07-2011 07:27 AM

I love your fabric and can understand why you hesitate to cut into it, but my problem is usually trying to decide on a pattern for a favorite fabric.

MarthaT 11-07-2011 07:28 AM

My first thought is echoed by many others...it was "Take a deep breath and GO FOR IT!!!" I'm never quite satisfied with anything I do, to much perfectionist there I guess, but I sure enjoy trying. You'll surely enjoy the fabric more as a quilt than a pile of fabric pieces. One day, on a whim, you'll probably grab the stack and say, "Today is the day" and start your fun project. Don't be too hard on yourself if it's less than perfect and enjoy the creative journey. (And if you just can't bear to cut into it, send it down here. I'd love to get my hands on the beautiful stuff! LOL!)

lil'scrapper 11-07-2011 07:31 AM

go for it!

Love your fabric and I think you picked a great design to showcase it. As a former soccer mom, remember you miss 100% of the goals you never try for! Get kicking!

Opal Jane 11-07-2011 07:34 AM

That is pretty fabric. I have some I also can't seem to cut. My excuse is that I just haven't found the right pattern...

grammiepamie 11-07-2011 07:35 AM

I have the same affliction. LOL There is no cure. LOL

nhweaver 11-07-2011 07:40 AM

I have a couple of fabrics that I love in my stash that I can't bring myself to cut. One is a paisley that feels so silky. The fabric and the pattern you have chosen are well suited. It will be a stunning creation.

fayzer 11-07-2011 07:42 AM

I have some like that. It is called Dragonfly Daze. I have the pattern, everything. I have another quilt I HAVE to make first, then I am going to dive in and go for it. Your quilt is going to be so gorgeous!

Sallyflymi 11-07-2011 07:42 AM

I would look for a different pattern. The one the material says to make me.

#1piecemaker 11-07-2011 07:48 AM

I've had the same problem before. That is when you just have to take the bull by the horns and make that first cut. Afterall, you aren't getting the full enjoyment out of your fabric by having it sitting in the closet and only taking it out every now and then. think how much you will love being able to look at it all at once in that gorgeous pattern you picked out for it! Get cracking girl! Get those sissors out!

Dani 11-07-2011 07:57 AM

I can see why you don't want to cut that fabric! Just do it! Don't forget to measure twice and cut once. That will be a beautiful quilt!!!!

DonnaR 11-07-2011 08:01 AM

I still hesitate to cut it then I remember what a speaker at our guild once said. She said "Just remember when your die and your friends get your fabric it will be the first one they cut." Since then I decided that I want to be the one to cut it and make something.

Quiltmaniac2010 11-07-2011 08:04 AM

Go for it!!! Your pattern will highlight your beautiful fabrics perfectly! Then you can enjoy looking at your fabrics on your bed instead of pulling them out of your stash! BTW, I always make a sample block first before doing all of my cutting to make sure the pattern is correct and I understand all the instructions. Good luck - can't wait to see the finished quilt!

Pam H 11-07-2011 08:11 AM

Your quilting skills have probably increased incredibly since you bought this fabric and pattern. You're almost a pro now, right? Go for it!

joyce blint 11-07-2011 08:13 AM

That fabric certainly is beautiful Just imagine it made into that quilt. WOW!

Bren 11-07-2011 08:15 AM

Wow, fab fabric!

dixiebelle162002 11-07-2011 08:16 AM

I see why you love the fabric so much; it is beautiful. The pattern looks like a good choice too. I have the same problem too! I find that it gets easier once you make the first cut.

BuzzinBumble 11-07-2011 08:22 AM

LOL - I think a lot of us have the same problem. I have to get my gumption up before every project just to be able to cut the fabric.
Those are very beautiful fabrics you have there. Maybe while you wait for the day you can actually cut them up, you could keep them where they are in view. I keep a collection of favorites in my grandmother's old china cabinet. Even if I don't use them, they add beauty to the room and make me feel inspired.

barblr 11-07-2011 08:36 AM

Love the fabric!!!

vivoaks 11-07-2011 08:39 AM

Just keep telling yourself (as you cut) that it will be SOOOOO beautiful once all those fabrics are intermingled in a quilt top.

This is a good option, if you don't like the pattern you're showing.

Snorky Lvs2Quilt 11-07-2011 08:46 AM

Beautiful fabric! I know how you feel. I have some fabric that I have not had the courage to start cutting, especially since it is fabric that I bought a while ago and am afraid I won't be able to replace it should I "goof". I have the pattern for it too, but.......... Eventually it will get cut but for now...I will just caress and hug it and admire it. LOL

:DDiane:D

glenda5253 11-07-2011 09:05 AM

I understand your plight but it's going to make a beautiful quilt!

MissSandra 11-07-2011 09:07 AM

oh the churing in my stomach as I cut the first piece of fabric, then made the sub cuts, i'm going to go really slow on this.
Sandra

Nanaquilts44 11-07-2011 09:07 AM

It's beautiful fabric, I would feel the same way.

Selena 11-07-2011 09:15 AM

I feel that way about a special piece or pieces of fabric sometimes. I take a big breath, get calm, and go for it.

owlvamp 11-07-2011 09:34 AM

What beautiful fabric. Go for it!!

frarose 11-07-2011 09:36 AM

I totally understand. I have some old feedsacks that I want to make a quilt from but just can't cut them.

northern lass 11-07-2011 10:08 AM

lovely fabric and lovely pattern too, just think how beauuuutiful it's going to be when it's made up!

tlpa 11-07-2011 10:18 AM

beautiful fabric and pattern. I'm the same way and actually have quite a few fabric pieces I don't want to cut up.
I will give in though if it's the perfect fabric for a project...but it usually is quite some time before the perfect project comes along!

Baby Catcher 11-07-2011 10:35 AM

Allow yourself not to be perfect and just go for it. Aiming for perfection spoils the fun. It will be a lovely quilt when you are done.

quiltymom 11-07-2011 10:41 AM

I find that just going for it works best for me!!! Love your fabric

showmehow 11-07-2011 11:25 AM

That fabric is beautiful and I agree with everyone else. The pattern is perfect for those fabrics. It will show the fabric off wonderfully.

mshawii 11-07-2011 11:40 AM

Oh but think what a gorgeous quilt it is going to make. Go ahead and cut it, there is more out there to buy next time you go to you local fabric store.

KathyKat 11-07-2011 11:43 AM

I say go for it, then you'll be able too see the beautiful fabric in your finished quilt every day!
I do have fabric that I love so much that I only want to use it for a project I'm going to keep. Then whatever piece is left over I hang onto and only want to use if it's something really special.

sandyquiltz 11-07-2011 12:19 PM

I have a couple of pieces of hand dyes and painted fabric that will be hard to cut. They're just so beautiful with the color variations through the cloth. I love looking at them.
