I have a GE that I paid less than $20 for at WalMart several years ago. It is a workhorse and I love it. I also love my Rowenta, which was made in Germany. It cost a lot more than $20.

I am very careful with both of them to empty the water from them every night after the sewing and pressing is done. froggyintexas

I have the Oliso. I have loved it, but I think it's about to die. I have had it for several years. Lately, I have to jiggle the cord a little bit to get power to flow to the iron. Thanks for starting this thread. I need a new iron too, but I can't afford to put a lot of money on it. I don't want a cheap iron from Wal-Mart.

Take a look at the dry iron in Vermont Country Store - good and heavy, nice quality, $30.

I like the inexpensive ones with automatic turn off!

I would not buy a Rowenta...They spit and leak and you constantly have to clean the bottom if you use starch and that product alone cost more than most irons. For the money you pay for this brand, you're just paying for the name. My next iron will be going back to the cheapo brands, they work better.

I tried the cheapo from walmart because it was bought as a gift. I hated it. It worked ok until I shut off the steam one day then I could never get it to work as a steam iron again. So now I use a shark and love it!

I have a Rowenta and a Shark. I love my Shark, got it at Walmart or Target, can't remember which one.

Because of arthritic problems, I purchased a small, lightweight Rowenta about 4yrs ago and love it. The only time it spits water is when I overfill it. Being a small iron it doesn't hold a lot of water and needs to be filled more often than the Black&Decker I've had for 10 yrs. Have always used distilled water.

Ditto....mine is nothing special except that it was a WalMart cheapie about 12-15 years ago and still going strong. Does everything I need it to do, considering that I only ever use the cotton setting for both clothes and quilting....never tried any other setting.

I love my Rowenta.......I have had it for just over 1 year.
