I need some border ideas please

I am in the process of making this quilt and want to add about 18 inches with the borders. Somehow, just plain borders seem a little boring, but I'm not sure how to compliment this design. Any suggestions would be appreciated. There will be one more row of blocks on the rt. side and the bottom, so the inside will measure about 64 X 80.

I would suggest a “float” border, narrow, of the background fabric so your blocks float. Then perhaps small log cabin blocks, maybe just a center and two rounds, using the colors already in the quilt but no background fabric. Then another narrow border of backgroundfabric. Then maybe a solid border of one of the blues or greens, or a piano key with the colors.

Piano key would work or a braid would keep in the diagonal genre of the blocks. I just did a curling ribbon, but I haven't seen it from a distance to know if I like it.

This is one quilt that does not demand a border ... and would look great borderless!!
So, why not make more blocks? |
I’m with QuiltE. The design doesn’t need a border. In fact, the outer half blocks form their own cool scallop pattern. I know the LC blocks are time consuming, but I really think another row of whole blocks plus 1/2 blocks, as shown, around the outside, would look great. Then if you still needed something, maybe red narrow (about 3-4”) birder and a scrappy binding would be cool. There us so much visual interest in the pattern already that a solid border would not be boring—it’d be calming.

That is such a cute quilt!
I think I would go 'borderless' too, because it's such a modern log cabin. |
love your layout, i agree... no borders

I might put a narrow white border around after the blocks and if you have enough of the same fabrics, do 1/2 blocks all the way around so the curved white sections makes a pretend scalloped boder.
|
If you need it to be bigger I for sure would put borders on it. Otherwise I don't have an opinion.

No matter what you decide to do, I think I would go with an even number of units both crosswise and vertically.
The current layout (is it complete?) would drive me nuts because the design on one side is "open" and on the other side is "closed" |
