Thanks for the responses...I think I'm going to remake rows 3 & 4 as I had originally planned and put the orange between the gray stripes. That seems to be the consensus here, too.

Can we see what it would look like without the row that has the orange stripe?

I like the softened look of the mint green and gray without the orange. The orange just distracts IMO.

I would make it the way your daughter wanted it...but add in a more intense shade of the green or gray to give it the pop.
When making a quilt for my little granddaughter, I decided to make a few executive decisions....they didn't go over well with DIL.... |
I like it, but you'd better ask your daughter if she likes it!!

I have to agree that this orange is just way too bright for this quilt. I do understand your desire to add the pop of color, but since the two calm colors were requested, I would check with your daughter before adding such a jarring POP to it.

Dunster said just what I was going to -- I love orange and use it in quilts often, but I'm not loving it here.
However, that row with the orange on the back would be a fun surprise. RSt |

I would not put the orange in the quilt. I like the way it would look without that stripe that sticks out way too much.

Since you asked, if it were mine I would use a softer orange. More like orange sherbet. The intensity of the orange is too much and it's all your eye is drawn to.

I like it just the way it is the orange really pops and the zig zag makes great roads for a boy to drive his cars and trucks on.
