It might not have been a Blue Ribbon of the Quilt World but It was a BLUE RIBBON OF YOUR HEART

That is so wonderful!! We had a beautiful pink log cabin quilt draped over half of Mother's casket at the funeral. She, my sister (who is now gone, too) and I made it. My sister gave it to me after Mother's funeral. It is very special to me. My sister and my niece, who has moved to RI now, used to sew and quilt every Wed. I have really missed them and our time together. Some of the ladies in our church are starting a group one Sun. a month on Feb. 19! I am SO excited about it!!

How nice to know that your quilt was loved and appreciated.

My mom passed away last May 19 [ the day after her 77th B-day]. For her 'celebration of life ' ;my family brought out every quilt that we could find. Finished and unfinished. We draped them over every thing , all over. So many people came. I think everyone knew that next to 'The Lord'; and us 'Her family' and friends, quilting played a very big place in her life.It was so very beautiful to see her quilts out for display; to hear all the lovely compliments; to be able to chat with friends over quilts made at different retreats. This made a very sad time just a bit easier. She made many ,many quilts for the children of Bolivia. I miss her so much! Many times I'll be looking at a mag, or book, 'Hey mom! You would really like this pattern!' and then I remember. It will be later when we talk again.

That is such a wonderful gift to you! Something that means more then words!

How wonderful. It is good to hear a story like that as often we only talk about the ones that have not been appreciated or have been found laying on floors or worse yet in a second hand store.
