I love your choice of fabric and I LOVE making OBW's. I've made them with fabric with that many colors and they turn out wonderfully. Good luck and have fun with yours.

I made a stack-n-whack (OBW?) quilt for my sister for Christmas and swore I would NEVER DO ONE AGAIN. It turned out pretty good (and she loved it) but the work involved just killed me and I wanted to just throw it all away at least twice.
So, being that I'm crazy, I've decided that since I resolved to put a quilt into the local county fair this year, I would (for some reason) need to do another dang kaleidoscope quilt and enter THAT. Glutton for punishment. That's what I am. And crazy. Here's the fabric I've decided to use...[ATTACH=CONFIG]399923[/ATTACH] It's from JoAnns, it's Legacy Studio brand, called "Polynesian Master Medallions". Lovely bright colors with metallic edging...really eye popping. I hope it looks OK in the quilt and not too busy! Right now my sewing room is packed full of furniture (we're having flooring installed all over the rest of the house) so I can only think and plan but I'm actually pretty excited about getting started on this. For a change I have ZERO UFO's but I will probably start a couple simple quilts too because I know I won't be able to grind away on this quilt without a distraction without losing whatever small grasp I have left on my sanity! |

I'm looking forward to STARTING it! I'm all excited about it, even though I know it'll be a pain, you guys have whipped me up and now I'm really eager to see how it's going to turn out.
Flooring installation in the rest of the house is finally complete, now I can un-bury my sewing room....but since the "house makeover" bug has bitten me, I have a pair of new sewing tables in the garage, waiting to be assembled and then I'm (finally!!) going to drop my machine down into one of the tables for a flush sewing surface (yayy!) so I have to design and build THAT part...then re-arrange everything in my already over-cluttered room to fit them in... I can't WAIT until it's all done though, I will finally have the best sewing studio I can cram into a 10.5x10.5 bedroom! THEN I can start working on this beauty (being optimistic here). And I have another bargello planned (this one will be a rainbow), and I think I'm finally emotionally ready to chop up my late father's clothes and make that crazy quilt I've been thinking of for 10 years...oh and my pile of robot themed fabric is plenty big enough to make a quilt, maybe even a double-sided quilt....and, and, and....about fourteen other projects I have in my mental queue... (You all know what I'm talking about, don't you? I'm willing to bet MOST of you have those mental lists of quilts you "have" to make "someday"!) A quilter's work is never done! :D |
I absolutely love the fabric. It'll make a fabulous obw. Can't wait to see the finished quilt.
I know what you mean about having small 'side' projects to do when working on a more complex project. Sometimes you just have to have a change of pace or you'll burn out. I usually make a pillow case then, or put together a charity quilt using a panel as the center. Good luck. |
