Boy! I'd love to know more.

Yes, I have one just like it that I have sewn on for years. It has truly been a workhorse. I love mine.

Joy Higdon 09-13-2011 03:04 PM

I might add that I have never had to have it repaired, neither the machine or serger. Very nice to use. All you have to do is turn it around on it's base. Have made many, many, many quilts, clothing, clothes for porcelain dolls and now I can FMQ on it. Still loving it.

deranged_damsel 09-13-2011 03:20 PM

!!!!!YES!!!!

BUT can you use them both at the same time is the question?

QM 09-13-2011 03:22 PM

New Home is owned by Janome.

Since you know the name and model, you might find it by a search engine.

hobbykat1955 09-13-2011 03:24 PM

WOW...figures it's not here in the US or we'd all have one.

Annaquilts 09-13-2011 03:27 PM

Now is that ever smart. I have never even heard of one.

Carron 09-13-2011 03:34 PM

I think I want one too.

maryb119 09-13-2011 04:02 PM

What a great idea!!!

Ginaky 09-13-2011 04:33 PM

No, it was so long ago I don't remember the cost--I barely remember things from last week!

They were widely available in Australia in the 1990's

Fixedgearhead 09-13-2011 04:49 PM

I think that New Home was one of the sub brands of Janome. I have a new home serger, and it was made by Janome. that is as much as I know about New home.

kso 09-13-2011 06:27 PM

A 2 thread serger??Don't think I want one.

quiltpd 09-13-2011 06:36 PM

How cool is that ?! Quite a space saver too.

muddlingabout 09-13-2011 06:44 PM

When taking classses at an area community college in Sacramento (back when sewing was offered), the classroom had some of these. We preferred not to use those machines at all, and if that was all that was available, we used the sewing machine only. We preferred the regular sergers. I remember them being on sale at those cheapo sales, TWO IN ONE SEWING MACHINE. MAKE PROM DRESSES, SWIMWEAR, EVEN DELICATE LINGERIE. This had to have been about 1990 or so.

OneMoreQuilt 09-13-2011 07:03 PM

I've never seen anything like it!!!

sewnsewer2 09-13-2011 07:40 PM

That's funny because my friend is looking for one! We were just talking about it the other day.

khurtdvm 09-13-2011 08:21 PM

AWESOME I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE ONE MYSELF SOME DAY(SOON) LOL

ka9sdn 09-14-2011 04:01 AM

That is really different. If someone finds them in the US put it on the board.

Sewfine 09-14-2011 04:02 AM

Never seen one before, but is sure does cut down on space.

#1piecemaker 09-14-2011 04:05 AM

I've never seen one before!!! How neat!

PS Stitcher 09-14-2011 04:12 AM

I never knew these existed.

quilted dakota 09-14-2011 04:14 AM

I googled the machine and could only find its from the UK and you can aparantly only get them on EBay. couldnt find a price, but a lot of rave reviews. still searching. . .

mawluv 09-14-2011 04:16 AM

I bought one of these in the early 80's. I saved for ever to purchase it for $849.00. I thougt I was in heaven! I sewed for the public, and my children and I raised baby calves. My husband would purchase day old baby calves from a nearby milk farm,we would bottle feed them for 6-8 weeks, grain&grass feed them for another 6-8 weeks, then sell them. I begged my husband to let me have the money from one of the calves to help pay for my new machine and he did. Six months later,my house burned ,lost everything!

scrappy2 09-14-2011 04:19 AM

I have never heard of this machine. I have 2 New Homes myself. I'm going to have to visit my new Home dealer in town.
I too would like to know if anyone else has see this.

SunlitenSmiles 09-14-2011 04:27 AM

the serger has only two threads ????????

I have a New Home which I bought in 1989! Still works great! It is made of metal, instead of plastic, so it is heavy, but a work horse! Keep it clean and it will last and last!

NOELLA 09-14-2011 04:35 AM

never seen one but have heard of it , don't think I want one
I own 2 already. sergers that is , don't know what I did without them .
Noella

Fabaddict 09-14-2011 05:08 AM

If I remember correctly, Janome bought out New Home. you might check at a Janome dealer.

amyjo 09-14-2011 05:11 AM

they look unique, but the price to fix would be more than it would be worth. besides only 2 threads for a serger isn't too good. I already own a singer 4 thread, a juki baby lock, 3 thread, and an industrial Juki, plus all my regular sewing machines. wouldn't know where to put it.

hunters grammy 09-14-2011 05:22 AM

I've never seen one of these machines either. Out of curiosity, I looked it up on Google. I was a little surprised to see that it is made by Janome. I have a Janome, but of course, it doesn't have a serger. This is a unique machine..I wonder if they even still make the combination machine?

Well I know exactly what this is because I used to own one. It was called a Janome combo. It worked well but it was only a two thread serger. It did swivel and was a regular sewing machine on the front, and a two thread serger on the back. Because of this the throat is quite narrow. I traded it in for my Janome 10000.

DirtyPaw 09-14-2011 06:09 AM

Very cool...
