Boy! I'd love to know more. |
I might add that I have never had to have it repaired, neither the machine or serger. Very nice to use. All you have to do is turn it around on it's base. Have made many, many, many quilts, clothing, clothes for porcelain dolls and now I can FMQ on it. Still loving it.
!!!!!YES!!!!
BUT can you use them both at the same time is the question?     |
New Home is owned by Janome.
Since you know the name and model, you might find it by a search engine. |
WOW...figures it's not here in the US or we'd all have one.
Now is that ever smart. I have never even heard of one.
I think I want one too.
What a great idea!!!
No, it was so long ago I don't remember the cost--I barely remember things from last week!

They were widely available in Australia in the 1990's

I think that New Home was one of the sub brands of Janome. I have a new home serger, and it was made by Janome. that is as much as I know about New home.

A 2 thread serger??Don't think I want one.
How cool is that ?! Quite a space saver too.
When taking classses at an area community college in Sacramento (back when sewing was offered), the classroom had some of these. We preferred not to use those machines at all, and if that was all that was available, we used the sewing machine only. We preferred the regular sergers. I remember them being on sale at those cheapo sales, TWO IN ONE SEWING MACHINE. MAKE PROM DRESSES, SWIMWEAR, EVEN DELICATE LINGERIE. This had to have been about 1990 or so.
I've never seen anything like it!!!
That's funny because my friend is looking for one! We were just talking about it the other day.
I learn something new every day on this board!

That is really different. If someone finds them in the US put it on the board.
Never seen one before, but is sure does cut down on space.
I've never seen one before!!! How neat!
I never knew these existed.
I googled the machine and could only find its from the UK and you can aparantly only get them on EBay. couldnt find a price, but a lot of rave reviews. still searching. . .
I bought one of these in the early 80's. I saved for ever to purchase it for $849.00. I thougt I was in heaven! I sewed for the public, and my children and I raised baby calves. My husband would purchase day old baby calves from a nearby milk farm,we would bottle feed them for 6-8 weeks, grain&grass feed them for another 6-8 weeks, then sell them. I begged my husband to let me have the money from one of the calves to help pay for my new machine and he did. Six months later,my house burned ,lost everything!
I have never heard of this machine. I have 2 New Homes myself. I'm going to have to visit my new Home dealer in town.
I too would like to know if anyone else has see this. |
the serger has only two threads ????????

never seen one but have heard of it , don't think I want one
I own 2 already. sergers that is , don't know what I did without them . Noella |
If I remember correctly, Janome bought out New Home. you might check at a Janome dealer.
they look unique, but the price to fix would be more than it would be worth. besides only 2 threads for a serger isn't too good. I already own a singer 4 thread, a juki baby lock, 3 thread, and an industrial Juki, plus all my regular sewing machines. wouldn't know where to put it.
I've never seen one of these machines either. Out of curiosity, I looked it up on Google. I was a little surprised to see that it is made by Janome. I have a Janome, but of course, it doesn't have a serger. This is a unique machine..I wonder if they even still make the combination machine?
