I won the bid on my first featherweight last night. I am so excited. I can wait to get my hands on it. :-P

I just had to tell someone who would understand. My kids said why do you need another sewing machine? I said, "THIS IS A FEATHERWEIGHT!" Their response, "Oh, ok." and rolled their eyes and laughed.

Congratulations on scoring a FW. You will love sewing on it. My kids don't get it either. Lucky me, DH gets it. He even enjoys the searching for a new vintage machine to add to my collection.

Are they better than the ones on the market today or is it just because they are better made then they are today? Am I cluless? Just like to know what I am missing here.

I like your spidron. I have mine done except quilting it. I made it in yellow and blue. I think I like yours better. Maybe I'll post a pic if I ever get it quilted.

The big deal about featherweights...They are easier to take to classes or retreats...They sound like the best music you have every heard...They make really nice stitches without having 500 to choose from...They do not beep at you until you figure out how they want you to sew...They look sooo cute...They will last a hundred years and counting...They are easy to maintain...And did I mention they make the most beautiful sound (The sound ranks right up there with the first cry from a newborn).
