LOL I would think he was listening when I told him I wanted to save up for this very machine. It is the very machine I want but money is tight.

First I would wonder what on earth gave him THAT idea....then I would wonder what he had been up to. Once he came home with a surprise for me -- it was a Singer treadle machine in pretty bad shape, but it was not frozen and looked promising. That has been years ago and it is still in the same condition. It has seen some rough times. I've begun to peel off the veneer of the cabinet so i can have it re-veneered so that it will not snag the fabric. I don't want it in pristine condition. I just want it to work so that I can sew on it. I had thought it would be a good retirement project for him but he is not one to fiddile with things in an on-going fashion. He wants it done by nightfall. Well, not gonna happen. I'll either have to hire out or beg my son to do it.

Would ask who the heck he was and what did he do with my husband.......lol.

I would start searching his pockets and check his cell phone! Must be something going on he is trying to cover up. No necessarily a woman, but he probably bought something for himself that he knows I would not like, maybe a new hunting gun or a boat. HaHa!! Seriously, if we had the money for that kind of machine he would be the first one to go and buy it for me and I would be the first one to give him a big kiss!

A few years ago I had my 25 year old Pfaff in the repair shop for service and replaceing the thread take up that got broke. They said they would need the machine about 2 weeks. My hubby knew how lost I was without my machine and he bought me a new Pfaff 2054 machine. I did not know he was buying it he just bought it and brought it home to me. I was very surprised. A couple of years ago he bought me a FW without me knowing it. He is a good man and he knows how much I love my machines.

Thank him and get right to work. Be glad it wasn't a Singer 201 which my DH thought was a Featherweight. It was so heavy, it took the two of us to get it out of the driveway and into the house. Then the dilemma was - what to do with it? Finally sold it to someone who needed a heavy duty machine.

I would hug his neck. I would have to ask him how he picked this machine. He loves that I sew but knows nothing about the machines or any of the tools I use. He's a sweetie.

I would make him take it back. in 57 years he has never gotten a gift of something for personal use that was what I either needed or wanted. I have told him repeatedly NOT to buy anything for me. I don't want things I don't need and cannot use. I will buy my own, thank you. And certainly NEVER do I want him to choose a sewing machine for me.

I'd be surprised and happy. Although I already have a Bernina, I do want a second sewing machine.
