The quilt show i went to in Duluth, Georgia (normally held in Atlanta) last year was wonderful it, it was like going to Nashville only bigger and more quilts. yes there were those who were selling machines but there were a lot of other vendors too. one was a stencil company--now where did put that card?

That does make a bit of a difference! I didn't know that Paducah was spread out in several different buildings. We were planning on going for 2 days and then on Sunday go to the quilt museum and do some shopping in town possibly.

I went to my first quilt show this last fall in Huntsville here in Alabama and it was kinda dinky so we were hoping to do something big this year.

Paducah

I wish I could see Houston just once. Never been there, but I have heard that it is large. Someday when I have money. I went to one in Lowell, Massachusetts a couple of times. It is held in 5 buildings around the city. One is the local hockey rink. All the quilts are where the ice would be, and the vendors are all around the second floor walkway. Ahhhhhh!!!

this years dates are October 14-16

Sisters, Oregon -- it's 40 minutes from me!!!! Maybe I'll expand my horizons in the next few years.

This sounds very hypothetical, so I will assume that cost is not an object. In that case I would dream big - Tokyo! Does anyone know of any other really big quilt shows outside the U.S.?

I have always wanted to go to Paducah, so that gets my vote

I have been to Paducah three times and would go back in a heart beat. I flew into Nashville, rented a van (there were six of us) and drove up to Paducah. No trouble with parking whereever we went, had the ability to come and go as we pleased, stayed five days and had a ball. So much to do and see. The show is at the Hotel conference Center but Kentucky Oaks Mall has quilts and vendors there. the museum is not to be missed and Eleanor burns has her own building with shows and all her books, fabric and notions. I've always wanted to go to Paducah...but I LOVE that area of the country!

Have been to Sisters, since I live 20 miles away...just wasn't all that impressed. Don't get me wrong, the quilts were awesome, but with the Stitchin' Post being the only game in town as far as a LQS....~shrug~
