I checked out the website and they must be in Hollywood on Rodeo Drive because every thing is so so overpriced.

It also was curtains, which means there will be a fold line you cant get out, its yellowed too. were edges hemmed? and you still pay the postage with that enormous price. eeks!!

If you notice, they have only sold 609 items and already have a rating of 97, that tells me a lot.

I love vintage fabrics but would never pay this much for 2 yards!!!! I will just keep my fabric until it becomes vintage and then have my own vintage stash to choose from. LOL!!

#1 it's ugly. #2 it's only 36" wide which makes it truly vintage. But it is probably rotted at the folds, if it has been wrapped all that time. Remember there was no such thing as acid free wrappings back in the day. Maybe someone will snatch it up, but it sure won't be me.

Rettie V. Grama 07-16-2011 04:09 AM

Hello Sherri
$10.00 a yard? Yes you are correct, that is not much compared to this EBay rip off. She has a feed sack that originally was $150. Now reduced to $132. I have a feed sack with yellow roses: Wonder if she would give me $100 for it? No, is my guess.

I'm thinking it was a misprint too. At least I hope it was. I can't imagine paying that much for a yard of fabric. But if it's new, I know of a place that might have exactly that fabric for $10 a yd...lol

Lavada 07-16-2011 04:37 AM

wonder if my 100+ feed sacks would sell for $100.00 each

May in Jersey 07-16-2011 04:53 AM

I believe it. A few months ago I was looking for some NY Mets fabric to make a pillowcase for a very sick kid. The only Mets fabrics in the shops are fleece but I needed cotton. Took a look on ebay and they wanted $45 - 50 for less than a yard.

grannypat7925 07-16-2011 05:06 AM

I'm with you girl! Looks like some greed going on. I hate that!

You never know when you're selling on eBay what will sell and what won't. I put on 3 vintage (I think we on the board placed them to be from the 50's) up for sale and now with 14 hours to go, no bids. It's almost 6 yards and I was asking a minimum price of $25 but I must have done something wrong. I'd take advise from pro's.

steinmag 07-16-2011 05:22 AM

That's crazy. As old as it is, it might just fall apart when you tried to use it. I had several quilt tops my grandmother had pieced. I saved them carefully in tissue paper, but when I tried to quilt one, the material had simply rotted and fell apart.

Linda1 07-16-2011 05:27 AM

I know a lot of my fabric is vintage because I have had some of it so long. If I thought I could get that for it I would sell it. LOL

countrycottage 07-16-2011 05:29 AM

Good grief Charlie Brown!

Rainy Day 07-16-2011 05:31 AM

Sell them as PT Barnum original fabrics, Nannya54 :)
Could be the wording of your ad, have you got vintage and cotton in the header?

I do have Vintage in the header but not cotton. Are they PT Barnum fabrics? I've never heard of that. I don't think it came up when I asked if anyone knew how old they were. We were just going by the JC Penney ticket priced $.28 attached to one of them.

Thanks, I've added that information. Hope that helps!

Where's Batman when you need him?
the "brand new" statement refers to the CONDITION of the item. it is stated incorrectly as "undamaged"=new get it?

the seller at least states in another area that there is "yellowing" which =it is NOT new......

would be buyers need to READ the ENTIRE listing......

Amythyst02 07-16-2011 05:50 AM

Well this is certainly an interesting thread to start reading first thing off in the morning. Some people on Ebay are totally nuts! This is one of them. Thank you all for your humorous responses to this.

merchjag 07-16-2011 05:50 AM

EEEWWWW-it's not even pretty fabric

LisaGibbs 07-16-2011 05:58 AM

Goes to show that some people think old translates into big bucks. I just say it is over-priced and ugly.

I would pay anything if it were for my 86-year old Mom (she asks for nothing and is The Best Mom Ever to us 5 kids), OR if it were identical fabric to something special she had or wore.

For myself - nah, never.

mimee4 07-16-2011 06:03 AM

Gulp! I think I have some sorta like that piece of fabric. Didn't know how valuable it really is???

Winnemay 07-16-2011 06:04 AM

I noticed there are no bids on this material ... anyone can put a price on something BUT the price is established once it is sold and someone actually pays what they bid ... don't think it will happen at $100.00 but it is a good way to get a tax deduction!

joyceinoh 07-16-2011 06:05 AM

It wouldn't go with anything I have here, for a quilt,
so I will pass also :)

loves_2_quilt 07-16-2011 06:08 AM

Wonder if it sold! No way would I pay that

jeanneb52 07-16-2011 06:22 AM

WOW!!!! Got to be a mistake

sewingonquilts 07-16-2011 06:22 AM

It's not my cup of tea, thank goodness! lol

iwillquilt 07-16-2011 06:25 AM

I spotted a vintage pattern available at a LQS that I thought was pretty. But they wanted $67 just for the pattern! I'll pass.

luvstoquilt 07-16-2011 06:30 AM

Good grief!

Rosie the "Ripper" 07-16-2011 06:38 AM

I looked at the bottom of the ad and it looks to me as if this is for the whole bolt. It says "unused, unopened" so I am assuming it is the whole bolt. Am I right or wrong????

Quiltbeagle 07-16-2011 06:39 AM

Did you check out their other items? Holey Moley is that stuff expensive!

arizonagirl 07-16-2011 06:41 AM

It's so ugly you couldn't pay me $100.00 use it...lol

Jo Mama 07-16-2011 06:43 AM

It is only valuable to the person willing to spend that kind of money.

Bibliogirl 07-16-2011 06:46 AM

Wow! I checked the rest of the fabric from that seller and was shocked! I should dig to the bottom of my stash were the material I inherited 30 years ago from my grandmother (she was 92 then!) and see if I have anything that valuable. HaHa

Rosie the "Ripper" 07-16-2011 06:46 AM

Ooops! I just saw that it was approx. 2 yds. Sorry.

The thing is, if you take out that hem, there is going to be an unremovable line where the fold was, and there are going to be 2 lines of stitching holes where the hem was. And that is going to become useless yardage. I can go buy reproduction vintage fabric better looking than that and for $100 I can get 10 yards.

adorabowe 07-16-2011 06:57 AM

Oh my! Went through the rest of the sewing supplies in her shop and she has some fabric that is listed for $1,000!! It's only 5 yards. For a $1,000 I'd be expecting an entire truckload! Although, it is generously discounted currently to $880

doll-lady 07-16-2011 07:01 AM

wow!

writerwomen 07-16-2011 07:30 AM
