Here's what I think- her husband told her she had to put some of her stash up for sale but if it didn't sell she could keep it. With those prices she's safe.
Or- she lives in fantasy land. Very few people can afford to live there so inflation is inevidable

judy_68 07-16-2011 07:35 AM

Thats crazy

At this rate...think of what some of your collections are worth!!!!

jshorty 07-16-2011 07:43 AM

I won't even buy it out of a clearance bin. Don't like it at all.

wisconsin 07-16-2011 07:49 AM

Out of my price range. Thanks for sharing.

QuiltnLady1 07-16-2011 07:51 AM

Hmmm... I have seen fabric like this -- on Mom's kitchen window. Don't know when she put them up, but I made her a new pair in the 1960's because I could not stand them any more.

You have got to be kidding! That's crazy! Oh well, you know what they say. "A fool and his money are soon parted."

kimscruzer 07-16-2011 08:28 AM

Crazy. % rate bad and it also says "No returns". Who would buy that for that amount and it's ugly to hoot.

qltnutty 07-16-2011 08:36 AM

Sorry.... That was ugly to "boot"

madelinkk 07-16-2011 08:45 AM

I saw cotton fabric in Hancocks yesterday for $24.99!

serenitybygrace 07-16-2011 08:48 AM

Some people sell on eBay because they think they can get more for it there than they can locally. This may just be an easy out to get rid of it. I see all kinds of crazy prices for things on eBay. I got stung a couple of times when I was first shopping there. You have to know your prices and ask enough questions to know what you are getting. $100 for 2 yds of fabric -- that is really toooo much!!

PrettyCurious 07-16-2011 09:04 AM

It would be, if it were just fabric. It is actaully an old curtain, and no where does it say what the fiber content of the fabric is.
So it's "out the park" way too much!!!

tatavw01 07-16-2011 09:06 AM

really!!!!!!

okiedee 07-16-2011 10:02 AM

I love your avatar...great idea for a display. Hugs, Dee

I agree, it's not that pretty at all.

lazygram 07-16-2011 10:19 AM

I would love to know if they accept your $10.00 offer. I have loads of vintage apple pattern fabric which I wouldn't even dream of asking that much for. Please post when you hear back from them.

And it says the fabric is yellowed due to sitting around. I guess they have a different meaning of what brand new is than we do.

I am curious as to if this fabric does sell and for what it goes for. At least the shipping seems to be reasonable.

I was checking out some of the older feedback and I kind of got the impression that this is fabric (and some of the others they sell) that is being weeded out by a warehouse some place overseas and this person got it for dirty cheap and it now trying to make a dime (okay a lot of dimes) off of it.

Quilting Angel 07-16-2011 11:09 AM

Oh wow.....that is just ridiculous. I don't think that will sell.

hmross 07-16-2011 11:11 AM

I don't think the $100 is a typo. I went in to the vintage yardages she/he is selling. And most of the prices are in that range and higher. I guess they figure, vintage equals money. But those things are so ugly.

mariebaker 07-16-2011 11:21 AM

if it's too precious to cut what good is it-and @ $100 it's way too precious to cut

TonnieLoree 07-16-2011 11:38 AM

First listing for this was August 11, 2010. Almost a year, no takers? Go figger!

OMG - I did notice its still there lol keep us posted - would love to see if it sells - who knows maybe your offer will work lol

24.99 - wow thats waaaay high too. What kind of fabric was it at Hancocks???

BobbiSue2009 07-16-2011 12:48 PM

Didn't know you were bidding but just chanced upon this fabric. I offered $12.00 and it WAS rejected. It is rather pretty but not worth the asking price.... Good luck...

That's awful. I've noticed quilting books for way too much.

jojosnana 07-16-2011 01:44 PM

(I don't care for it, meeceself!...I have learned that if I pass up something, that something better will most likely come along!)

wendyweb50 07-16-2011 02:37 PM

A great way to find vintage fabrics is thrift stores in established/older neighborhoods or areas where there are lots of seniors living. Often older women's sewing rooms are cleaned out after they pass away and their sewing items (including fabric) are donated to the nearest thrift shop.

iowabelle 07-16-2011 03:10 PM

I think sometimes sellers post prices just to see if anyone is stupid enough to pay that. I've seen things described as "rare" or "unique" and know perfectly well they aren't, and astronomical prices set to catch the unwary buyer.

Margaret Main 07-16-2011 03:24 PM

This
Fabric is not my "Cup of Tea"

MargeD 07-16-2011 03:31 PM

That piece of "vintage fabric', probably cost$0.25/yard.

also, I think maybe family, of the quilter that may have passed, think that other quilters will pay anything!

Brendamich 07-16-2011 03:51 PM

I wonder if that's just a typo and should have been $10. $6 for shipping is a bit much though.

I love vintage fabrics but would never pay this much for 2 yards!!!! I will just keep my fabric until it becomes vintage and then have my own vintage stash to choose from. LOL!!

I'm very confused by the description of this fabric. It's supposed to be vintage with yellowing & everything that comes with being OLD yet in her description she says it's NEW, unused, still in package, etc.

desertrose 07-16-2011 04:07 PM

As you may have noticed no one bought it at this price and I don't think they will for a while. Some people are always looking to make their big profit from someone else. I'm with you hang on the your stash until it becomes vintage and every one will think your rich because you can afford to quilt with vintage fabric. :D

BettyGee 07-16-2011 04:12 PM

OMG, that has to be a typo. It isn't even attractive. I'll bet it is on the list for a loooooooooooong time.

ShabbyTabby 07-16-2011 04:15 PM

Saints preserve us!! The sellers on E-Bay have gone nuts!!
Surely they are kidding. There is no 2 yds of fabric made that I would pay $100 for and I'm a complete fabric maniac....
