I like all of your layouts, but my favorite is the last one -- the one with all of your blocks set at different angles. It seems to be a little more vintage than the others. Your fabric choices are really terrific.

The third one for sure! Things have to be in a certain order for me, I think it is OCD!
|
Definitely the green. It blends so well.

Babies love colors so I would do the last one!!

When/If you use the hour-glass units - be aware of the secondary patterns that they might make.
My personal preference is to use an even x even or odd x odd arrangement. Attached are some examples: |
The differences:
The first is just the black and white drawing. Differences in the colored drawings: 1) Light green triangle is always on top. 2) All the same color triangles are "framing" the square 3) Odd columns: Dark green is on top Even columns: Dark green is on the right 4) As random as I could do |
I like the last picture best.

Thank you for your detailed reply! very helpful

I like a controlled look and would go with the blue. If I was doing it, I would have all the light blue frame one block and the next one with all the dark blue, etc. It will be a cute quilt no matter what you decide.
|
If you are still considering that the hourglass blocks are too big, have you considered cutting them down, perhaps a bit wonky and framing them with sashing/triangles to square them up again? It would lend a bit of whimsy to a child's quilt.
