if your wife told you that you need to empty the water after each use, THEN YOU NEED TO EMPTY THE WATER AFTER EACH USE :roll:

I usually try to empty when I'm done. I worry the standing water might get moldy and ruin the project. Sue

I have had to Rowentas. Thought the first one was broken, but found out that you should use ONLY DISTILLED water. Has not dribbled or spit since. and no i never emply it out, it seems that it always runs out first. LOL

Looks like everyone either uses tap or distilled water. Does or does not empty their iron.
Likes or does not like their Rowenta irons, and
has either a high priced or low priced iron...LOL!

i never use water or steam i use spray starch or a spray bottle

My Rowenta said not to use distilled water because of the sediment in it. What??? That's the point of distilled water, removing the sediment. My Rowenta also wanted the water removed after use, which I did. But it didn't matter, it still leaked. Now I have a Reliable brand that wants distilled water or at least softened water, so that is what I use. And I empty the water out after use. They cost too much to treat badly.

I always drain my Rowenta. Paid too much money for it to possibly have problems just from the hard water we have. Draining helps prevent the buildup that plugs up the holes once you start ironing and from the little buildup gunk seeping through those holes onto the fabric. For those with not-so-great water of course.

I leave the water in but I only use distilled now. I started buying distilled for the Shark steamer I use on the linoleum and decided to use it in the iron too.

I always dump my water immediately after using. The iron is still very hot and I feel like the heat makes all the little bit that might be left evaporates. Since I started doing that I have never had a problem with dark drops coming from the iron - usually used to be just when you were ready to go out the door...(:

Do yours leak when the iron isn't hot enough? Mine does. so I have to be sure to wait for it to get warm before I start ironing, especially if I accidentally overfill it.
