I'm waiting for my delivery today. I'm getting Koala sewing furniture. It will be the first time in my life that I will not be sewing on a card table, the kitchen table, or a long folding table. Also I recently purchased an Ellisimo by Babylock and a surger. In the past years of sewing it's been machines either given to me, which I've had to have fixed so I could use them, and a little portable machine I bought at a yard sale for $15.oo. This is also my first surger. It's about time, I'm 64 and wish this was possible almost that many years ago. Ask me if I'm excited! And yes I am so grateful.

I know how you feel about your Koala furniture. I treated myself to mine with some of my inheritance after looking after my mom & her husband for about 4 years. Its a nice reminder every time I sew. Congratulations! Enjoy

Quilter7x 11-02-2010 08:48 AM

Woohoo! I have Horn furniture - what a difference it will make to have your sewing machine at the right height and recessed. You will really enjoy it.

I would love to have some Koala furniture, but one thing at a time I guess. Maybe some day down the road, for now I guess I should be thankful for what I have.

A serger has been used for basic finishing of seams for garment making but in the last few years several other uses has emerged. There are now more stitches to select from and craft use has shown a whole new side to serging. I've seen crazy quilts made with only using a serger.

Surging is addictive. I am crazy about mine. But alas, I sew in the kitchen on the table. Enjoy your furniture.

How great!!! Congratulations to you. You deserve it. I am alot like you - most machine are inherited/hand-me-downs.

Teresa 54 11-03-2010 03:52 AM

Did you order the plastic insert that is made for your particular machine so you will be sewing flat? If not, call your local sewing machine store and see if you can order one. You will see a jump in the quality of your work, it makes a difference in having your work flat.

uniquelynancy 11-03-2010 04:02 AM
