Itty Bitty pinwheel help please......

1 Attachment(s)
Below is my Itty Bitty pinwheel top. It is 10 1/2 x 10 1/4-why would it be square!! I have backing/binding fabric for it. I don't know whether to just cut a piece of batting and layer the 3 together and bind it. I don't want to try and quilt it as there are so many seams.

Oh, and why did I make it? I wanted to see if I could. This is my first pinwheel!

Suggestions please....
Thanks

First, it's really cute. If your going to use it as a wall hanging, I would use fusible batting and maybe do hand quilting instead of machine. You could always sew decorative buttons in the center of each pinwheel and that would serve as your quilting.

what an adorable quilt. i kinda like the button idea that joyce gave

Thanks ladies for the complements! It was a kit from Quilts Plus out of Indianapolis, IN. Sad I know, but I don't as of yet have stash. I've just gotten back into quilting and I really wanted to try this.

I kinda like the button idea too. So, to do that I'd use fusible batting, then sew on the buttons, then the back/binding? OR do I piece it altogether, then sew on the buttons? Would I use floss to sew on the buttons?

TIA-

you need to put the back on when you make the (sandwich)- as in top, batting, backing---then add your buttons---like a tied quilt---they would substitute for quilting-then binding.
the fusable batting is fusable on both sides- adheres to top & backing- binding is the last step.
and from the picture it sure doesn't look square- but that is probably from the angle of the picture- it looks as if it is 9 or 10 across & the same top to bottom- so that would make it pretty square. very cute! i love the fabrics.

Ya, it isn't square it is off by 1/4 inch. I will probably trim it. The angle I took the picture at didn't help it not look square but I didn't want to stand on top of it to take the photo.

Thanks---off to check my button stash!

I like your words "wanted to see if I could make it".
That is the reason I make lots of things...........to see if I can do it.

I really like it!! If you didn't want to use it for a wall hanging it would make an adorable doll quilt for some little girl.
