So last night DH and I were eating dinner. He had on a T-shirt from Birney Falls, CA that had a Native American design with a turned square in the center. I am looking at the design trying to figure out how I can make a quilt block of it! I had reached for a ruler to measure if it was close to 12" when I realized he would probably have me committed. I will wait until it is in the laundry! I love Native American decor so it will get done.

Hehehehehe.......

|
Graph paper! anything can be mapped out on graph paper.
|
And I'll bet he was thinking you were looking at his manly chest, having carnal thought....ROLMAO!!!!!
|
LOL wonder how long it will take for him to notice it in your next quilt :D:D:D
|
That made me chuckle big time!! :D:D
If by any chance he has you committed be sure to have a little suitcase ready to go full of quilty stuff you can do lol :D:D:D |
yep, i spyed a floor design on a t.v. show i'd love to have done a quilt like!
|
Made me laugh.
Annie |
Very funny !
|
rofl, he may never see that shirt again
|
Yeah because if you are commited...YOU WILL have alot of time on your hands. Just imagine how much you could really get done.
|
they don't let you bring your scissors or anything else sharp.
don't ask me how i know. |
Yeah, I thought about being committed BUT you can't have sharp or pointy objects-no scissors, no pins or needles and no sewing machines. I worked inpatient and I realized real quick I would not do well in that environment. Plus they won't let you stay up all nite to finish a project. I grit my teeth and deal with what I have, the alternative is not what you want.  :XD:

I see quilt patterns, block, shapes and now I see Longarm designing graphics EVERYWHERE! I now look at fabric of all kinds on everything to see how I can longarm it!
You have not gone over the edge - you have just joined the rest of us! lol |
It is funny how we see quilt patterns everywhere. Just one of our things I guess.

I lived in Fall River Mills for several years. It's about 10 miles from BURNEY FALLS. We in Fall River and the town of Burney had a wonderful Quilt guild. I have many friends from there.
We moved to Oregon in 2005. But, I have some wonderful memories of FR and Burney Falls. Cynthia |
Edge...I thought it was a natural progression of quilting obsession....think I fell off it a while ago. Now my family just shake their heads and let me get on with it.
|
It reminds me of a friend of mine's story. She needed a certain shade of blue to finish a quilt pictute. Her husband had just put on his pjs . "That's it!!!" She ran and got her scissors, cut out a hunk and finished her quilt. At least you restrained yourself until he takes it off.

At one time I decorated my house with Native Amercian and still have many panels of it.
|
do they let you have needles on the funny farm?
|
You should be able to draft it out on graph paper. I use 4 to the inch graph paper all the time. Have around 50 graph notebooks with designs in them. I've been at this for 44 years and have always used the notebooks to sketch ideas.

I am almost finished with the Happy Camper quilt I made and I designed it on Excel and then created a cut list from the spreadsheet. This picture is a wall hanging I made with Swedish Weaving. |
I'm glad I'm not the only one that does that. I find quilt stuff everywhere! Drives my family nuts...but they are learning.
|
Why not take a piece of tracing paper and then transfer that to 4 sq. per inch graph paper. (Put it up to the window to transfer it.) Then you can break it down to a pattern, using 4 sq per 12" total block. Often you will find this to be quite easy. Just do one little square at a time and hopefully you will surprise youself with a pattern you find useable! THIS is how I often take something I like and go with the flow! I teach a class and they too find it interesting to do this type of 'copying'.
Good luck! |
Funny!
|
Not a bit. I do the same thing. I will see any little thing and wonder how I could make it into a block. Or wonder how it would look in a certain color way. It is an obsession. And I don't want to be cured!

LOL been there done that!!! I see em in lots of places

I am making my dh a wall hanging with some of his Boy Scout patches. He has a t-shirt with the emblem from when he took a troop to the jamboree. I almost took it to make the center of the wall hanging. He grabbed it before I could take it.
|
I guess I can be committed with you. Whatever I look at anymore I try to picture it in a quilt.
I'm not sure they will allow needles or rotary cutters in the funny farm. Too dangerous. LOL Thanks for the chuckle tonight. I needed it. |
Thats sooooo funny...

Oh my! I am over the edge right there with you! I see quilt patterns everywhere....I have sketched the design from a divider in a Chinese restaurant, the tile on Ruby Tuedays restroom floor, a mosaic design on the wall of a ritzy hotel...
I also see quilt worthy fabric in folks clothing and have just barely caught myself numerous times as I was getting ready to say, "I love your shirt (or skirt or dress)...it would make a great quilt." I did let it out once and the lady looked at me like I was crazy. I guess she didn't realize what a compliment I was paying her. lol |
