Have you decided to keep it?

I was quoted $2995 as the msrp. The dealer gave me $500 trade in for my 20 year old Janome XCEL. Then she spent about an hour teaching me to use the new features on the store model. I must say I LOVE this machine and find it is well worth the price. Prior to buying this one I have never spent more than $800 for a sewing machine.

I can get the machine near my home for $2700 - and no sales tax.

I am currently in Nebraska and a shop is having a Christmas sale that includes the Horizon, the table, the case and $60 in thread for $2800.

I think this is a good deal. How about you?

WOW! Thats a GREAT price! ... I'm in the Houston area, can you tell me who you bought from?? I tried the 7700 at the quilt show, I'd LOVE to get one - but they weren't dealing for that price, even on the class machines ...?

Update....after returning to Northern California I was unable to find the price I had originally been quoted.

The really irritating part is the dealers who inflate the MSRP to make their price look good. I was quoted as high as $3,400 for the Horizon.

This morning I finally found a reputable dealer who WANTED to sell a machine. I pick it up tomorrow....along with the table, tote, thread and a 3160QDC.

I am SO excited!

OK, here's an update on mine: I no longer have the 7700. I was really unhappy with the way it sewed. My MC4000 sewed MUCH better. The 7700 would not sew over bulky seams. Yeah, I know, Janome knows that and have redesigned the 1/4 foot to fix the problem, but it didn't, at least it didn't on the machine I got. I was so disappointed with the way the thing sewed in comparison to my little old MC, that I took it in and traded it for a Babylock. While I am still disappointed in Janome, I LOVE my new machine.

I know there are a lot of people who love their 7700's, and I hope it turns out well for all of you. But my advice is to take one of YOUR blocks to the store and sew before you buy. Good luck.

I intend to take one of my 'mini' quilts with me to try.

I also paid $2999 + tax for mine in Texas, with nothing extra than what came out of the box. It has tons of feet and the acrylic expansion table and that soft cover, but nothing else. I'm a bit steamed about the price after seeing what others paid for theirs, but I have to admit I was in a hurry and didn't compare prices. My dealer (20 miles from me) is the only one around where I could look at them, and I wasn't willing to drive clear across Houston.

At least your dealer isn't far. Mine is 125 miles away - and I've already had to drive there to have a warranty item taken care of.
