I have decided that I NEED a Janome Horizon....thanks to everyone who has posted here with their views.
I can get the machine near my home for $2700 - and no sales tax. I am currently in Nebraska and a shop is having a Christmas sale that includes the Horizon, the table, the case and $60 in thread for $2800. I think this is a good deal. How about you? |
I hadn't heard of this machine & had to go research it some.
It looks good. Computerized, right? Not sure I'd pay $2700 for a sewing machine with the economy tanking like it is but have fun with it! |
I would not buy the machine because it's a few dollars cheaper. Buying from a dealer near you for support and classes is the way to go. You may be able to negotiate a bit with your local dealer. And for warranty service etc. you really ought to buy local. Just my two cents.

It's a much better deal than the one I can get in Canada. I was quoted $3200 including the table but no thread. I like this machine but need to stitch on it for awhile before I decide to buy it. I have heard that it doesn't like multiple layers or thick seams and may veer off the stitching line when crossing intersecting seams which isn't good for quilters.

Price I was quoted today was $2999 which included a rolling travel case and some sort of thread box. I opted for the 6600 which was on sale. Buying locally seems to be advantageous in terms of customer service if needed.

It is more like $800 less than actual retail. While I agree that purchasing locally would be ideal, I have to drive close to 100 miles to get to a 'local' dealer, so not an ideal situation.

Whatever you do though, enjoy and be sure to post a pic!! Wow, I just read your update- 100 miles?? Ouch! PS. I had to chuckle over your NEED in caps. I'm like that with vintage machines, and YES it's because of this board! lol |

Umm, at the risk of starting trouble, I got mine last weekend and paid $1999.00. About $2140.00 with tax.
And it has a two inch bigger throat than the 6600, which doesn't sound like much, but is HUGE!! |
Wow, I paid $2,999 for mine in CT. I traded in my 6600 cause I didn't like it at all. No freearm and the Accufeed on the 6600 always ate my fabric.
The Horizon is much better especially since they redesigned the 1/4" foot and have shipped it to everybody who registers their machines online at Janome. I didn't even get a table with the Horizon. Connecticut sucks. |
