The dealer was also the repairman and was always very good about fixing it at no charge as it was in the warranty period. The 4th time I brought it in with a problem, he said it's a lemon and gave me a brand new one and I have not had one problem with this one.

I have bought several Janomes, and loved them all. I have a 6600P, which is a wonderful quilting machine and is a true workhorse. I had a 7700, which was fantastic for about 3 years, and then I upgraded it to an 8900 a year ago. I absolutely love my 8900, with the extra harp for fmq, and once I found the right thread combination, all the stitches are perfectly balanced. I kept the 6600 as my back-up machine, and wouldn't dream of trading it in (I've had it for about 10 years). I agree with keeping the embroidery unit separate from the main sewing/quilting unit. I do take my machines in to my dealer for their annual servicing, and that keeps them in good, working condition. Good luck finding the Janome that is right for you!

Yep, Love my 6600. It does everything I ask of it.

I am sold on Janome. All my machines, 2007DCLE, 6600, 4800QC, 7034 serger, 2012 DC, 720 Jem Platinum, Janome 350e and a Kenmore made by Janome are wonderful machines. I took a class at my LQS on how to do routine maintenance and cleaning on any machine, best $35 ever spent. My feet all interchange, the needle threaders are the best, and they perform as expected when needed. I began with a dual function machine that both embroidered and sewed; I opted to get 2 machines after one week. I am a huge fan of Janome based on positive experiences and reliability of the equipment.

I just picked up a reconditioned Janome 4000 with hundreds of stitches, on ebay for $200. It is a great little, in size, but very heavy, sewing machine. I wanted many of the stitches for appliqué as I am doing many of Edyta Sitars and she likes using different stitches. This is a fab little machine. Quiet, good price, free shipping and originally sold for $1500. I also have a Janome 5000 embroidery and a 10000 does everything machine. Love Janome!

I have 2 Janome 6600 - I purchased one for myself then I had the opportunity to purchase my quilting friend's when she passed away - I love those machines. They are a wonderful machine.

For crying out loud take it to the repair shop! You may decide you want another machine, but don't give up on a machine you know and love. The chances are good that it will cost less to get a profession repair/tuneup than it will to buy another machine. froggyintexas

Her machine is 24 years old. I vote for "go shopping". As one can see, I am a HUGE Janome fan.

I have a Janome 4000, can't begin to tell you when I bought it, just remember my Singer playing havoc with stitches and the dealer offered the upgrade to the Janome 4000, and actually discounted it the same price I paid for my Singer. I'm not telling you not to upgrade, but sometimes a trip to the dealer for a tune-up is worth the price. I just did that not too long ago and I don't regret it. I do have an older Brother machine as back-up plus a Kemore that was given to me free, but I need to save up some money to take it in for a check-up and a check. I cannot give you information about newer models of the Janome, but when I do upgrade it will most likely be another Janome, as I love it.
