Its what I ordered my first jelly roll for, the Jelly roll race.

her jelly roll is cut, but the backing and batting are not...do you know how long it will take to wrangle the batting to cut it into accurate 2" strips?

Cutting the batting wasn't a problem. I had a roll of king size batting so just used a ruler and rotary cut 2 inch strips from the folded batting giving me long strips. I cut the 2 1/2 inch strips for the backing using my Go die cut. I only sewed a few strips end to end to see how it would work. I sewed a backing strip with the top strip with the batting on the outside. I used this padded strip as the original strip. So far it's working. My camera battery is dead so I'll post pictures if it works for a large size as I keep folding.
I decided to use the rag die and just make a rag quilt for the quilt I need for Tuesday. I have it all cut, just need to sew the squares to each other.

I see no reason it would not work...... I can't wait to see the pics!!!

When I need a quick quilt to donate for a charity auction or something that comes up unexpectedly, I make a pattern called Big Star by Country Threads. It is a throw size that can be pieced in about 3 hours and can be on my quilting machine tomorrow. I have made 8 or 9 of them in various color combination, but alway in flannels. They have all turned out quite cute.

Another go to pattern that I like to use when I need something fast is a pattern called Charming Log Cabin by Threaded Pear that they advertise as a 4 hour quilt. It is basically one large log cabin type block that is quite nice and can be made with the top and bottom borders scalloped if you wish.
