Hi Peckish, I went right to the instructions and printed them out. This quilt looks great and easy too. Thanks for sharing. I have never bought a jelly roll (charm packs yes) but now I will!

I love pre-cuts - you get many different fabrics that all work together - so it looks like you know what you are doing - plus its a time saver - just look for sales and you can get a better price.

I've bought them both in the past and love them.

I love using jelly rolls, but prefer to cut my own as I have found some purchased ones have a'dip' in the middle, and can put your quilt out. Have not tried charm packs.

I only use the precuts: charms, jelly rolls, honey buns, and layer cakes. I love them!

Connecting Threads doesn't charge extra for cutting. It's worth a peek for those interested in trying w/o the extra expense.

Sometimes it's more practical to buy the precuts if you want a variety of the fabrics because many places, especially online shops, will not sell less than 1/4 or 1/2 yard. It would cost a lot more to get 40 1/4 yard pieces to get the variety you can get in a jelly roll.

Does Connecting Threads make jelly rolls by request?

no, but if you calculate the yardage, it's the same price as by the yard.

I used one package of Bali Pops in the Cotton Candy (soft pastels) colorway, and one package of Tonga Treats in the Meringue (off-white) colorway.

p.s. I purchased both of these items on sale, so the entire top was less than $46.

Love your quilt. How big is your quilt? The size must vary from the pattern because they use 3" strips. (thanks for the link!)

I like them because I know the colors go together. I only buy them when they are on sale. Or sometimes I'll use it as a guide and then buy similiar colors. They are fast and easy to put together.
