Yay.. Someone was smiling down on you today.. :D

I do love the huge selection of books and magazines at JoAnn. Plus you can use your 40% or 50% off coupons for books/magazines. Here in Austin their coupons come in the mail, in the newspaper and of course in the stores themselves. I'm not on their email list, if they have one, but that would be another way to get them. Plus they'll let you use however many you have in any one checkout!

I have shop at our JoAnns for years.I have never had a bad salesperson. They have always been kind and helpful. Its really to bad that all the JoAnns cant be that way.
|
You're lucky. The workers at our Jo-Anns measure very accurately!!
|
Wow, that is great. But I hope the poor gal doesn't get caught giving you an extra inch. their inventory will tell them exactly how many inches they have in stock. LOL
|
I love my Jo-Ann's. It's in Yuba City Ca. Rebecca is the store manager she would do anything for you. They go out of their way to be helpful. I have a quilt store right by in Marysville. The quilt store carries better fabric but they are sooo rude I hate to spend money in there. I go to Jo-Ann for everything I can. I hate to hear that aren't all as good as mine.
|
my JoAnn doesn't cut anything extra--but i think they are careful to be sure the cut is straight and you get full value. With their half-price coupons, i am still thinking i get good value at the store. Also--the clerks are all very friendly and try to be helpful. Last visit, (i forgot my 50% off coupon) and the clerk offered to let me use one that a previous shopper left at the checkout! Nice. :)

I have to stick in my opinion!!
I have been here for just over a month and have visited two Jo-Ann's - one in Travere City and one in Birmingham. I have spent a scary amount of money (dont tell my husband!) and havehad great service each time - even though I have had dozens of fabrics to cut each visit!!! The first day I went to Jo-Ann's the lady in front of me in the que - took one look at my loaded trolly and gave me a big handful of vouchers from her purse!!! Saved me over $40!! I know she didn't work for Jo-Ann - but still a great experience. |
Well, good help is hard to find... lots of teens, incl. boys, working. They have to learn sometime and sometime I'm the teacher!!!!!! Hahaha Making sure the fabric is straight, edges even, grain as close as possible, plaids (homespuns) cut single layers... etc. Caveat emptor.
Glad there are some decent employees out there. Thanks for sharing and bringing this issue up front! |

I picked out my fabric and went to the cut counter. The cutter was a total sweetheart. She made sure to give me a little extra on every cut (about 1/2-1" ) so that I would get the full amount I paid for. There was a pricing issue that she made sure I wasn't getting over charged. Then came a batik I was buying at 50% off. She offered me the last 1/3 of the yard for an additional 50% off. Of course I took it at end-of-bolt price. One fabric I only bought an 1/8 of it. When I got home an 1/8 would have been just a touch small for the pattern I decided on for my Monthly Quilting Bee swap block. BUT because she had given me that little extra it was PERFECT!!!! How awesome is that??? Anyway just had to share :) |
I Have to agree. My JoAnn's is just as nice and thats why i go back, I happen to have one of the Wal Marts that has fabric (so grateful) but.....the ladies are never smiling shooo and some of the cuts....wow, and I don't hesitate to ask for my full yardage. Even at a cheaper price per yard, I'm still paying for a yard.
|
I really like our JoAnns but they don't give you even 1/8" over. They are real sticklers on that.

I have yet to have a problem at JoAnns. I always find bargains, and the staff is awesome. Quincy, IL

Its great to hear the positive stories too. I love my joanns. All the workers are awesome! Dont think the manager is very sociable, but haven't had to talk to her really so that isnt an issue.

You do not buy at the Jo-Ann fabric near us. It is a big store with a lot of young twits that don't know anything about sewing or quilting and follow their training to the letter. I often buy 1/8 more to allow for there rules.
|
I've had good service at my jo'ann's, I had to wait in line because there computer was down so the manager gave me 50% off everything I purchase.elise

FYI The Dublin, Ca. and San Ramon, Ca. Joann's stores are closing and a new Super Store will be opening in the spring in Dublin. Personally, I am looking forward to this.

Our store in Yuma,Az is great ,We have David and he is a great help in the Fabric Dept
|
Some years ago I worked at Spinning Wheel Fabrics in Frankfort, ky. We had a cutting rule, measure and then place our thumb down and add that much to the cut. We called it a "Fat Thumb" cut.
|
Our JoAnn's is great. The girls are all friendly and willing to give advice. Although, there's a new girl that I'm going to have to teach how to fold fabric after she cuts it. It looks like it's been rolled up in a ball when she gets done!
|
Good for you. That is a wonderful help.

Also, I have bought full bolts, cards, rolls, etc. of things and they always measure. I can understand the measuring to make sure there is not a shortage on the bolt - if that were to happen it could be turned in for reimbursement from the manufacturer who sold for example the 10 yard bolt that was only 9 7/8 yards. But why when the 10 yard bolt turns out to be 10 yards and 3 inches, no overage form is filled out but I pay for the 3 inches when JoAnn's paid only for the 10 yard bolt. :hunf: This has happened to me several times and I've never said anything but just can't get it out of my head the only one benefiting here is JoAnn's. The customer and the manufacturer get the shaft! |
It's always nice to get a little extra no matter what it is. Isn't it. So glad you had a pleasant experience.

love Jo Anns...wish they were closer...Carolyn...MS

It is so nice to hear the positive comments about any company. Thank you for sharing yours.

Great to here...I too have always had good luck with the ladies @ Joann's................they call me by my first name..................geeeeeee does that mean I shop there tooo much!
|
I have never had any trouble at Joanne Fabrics here. I never expect my fabric to be cut straight but I always watch to make sure they are not cutting too short. If I notice they are they always take care of it without a problem. They are all very helpful. Most of the ladies cutting are older. I think that might have alot to do with it.

I also had a great experience at JoAnn's recently. I had nine different fabrics that I wanted to use for a D9P but, only wanted 10" of each one to make 5" squares. The clerk made sure I had a "good" 10 inches of each one. She was wonderful! I have been in some LQS's that would not have been that considerate. It's so nice when you are treated kindkly. Just be sure to let them know you appreciate it. (I have gotten to the point in my life where I let them know if I don't appreciate it, also!!)

I would have to say these last posts reflect both Joanns near me. They are always willing to help you or locate someone that can.
