Ok thank you. A trip to Joanns this week.

I read on a quilting Facebook group that I belong to that this liquidation company is known for raising prices on remaining inventory and the offering a twenty percent discount so people think they are getting a deal. Watch your prices when you shop or wait until later when prices will drop again.

Making a trip to the US on Thursday and I guess it will be my last trip to Joann's. That's sad.

It used to be that I would travel to the US to get fabric and to buy groceries cheaper and because you guys had a greater variety. Still have a greater variety but not any cheaper anymore. Now, I won't be able to buy fabric either as I don't shop at Hobby Lobby.

Kind of feels like the end of an era.

It would be great if Michaels picked up their online business since it would help them break into the sewing branch of crafting which is a growing group. There is a lot of overlap but it could be good. Fingers crossed!

I checked out the prices at the Joann's near me and basically no great bargains. Everything is marked down but only a dollar off from the regular price. Some even more expensive then it had been, because the item was one that was usually on sale to begin with. So they upped it to regular price and then made it 1.00 cheaper.

Well, my Joanns employed very few people. There were usually only 3 employees when I went there and as far as ALL the Federal employees being laid off, that's just not true. A few of the millions of employees will be laid off. Nothing to impact the employment that much. Plus, there are tons of places here with "Now Hiring" signs so I think things will be okay.

Well, now my JoAnns is closing as is everyone elses. Took two Project Linus blankets in on Tuesday and picked up some fat quarters and a spool of thread. The place was really crowded...one person helping customers, one cutting fabric and one check out lane....how insane! I do shop Hobby Lobby sometimes for fabric and will go again this week as a piece of blue that I bought there I need more of to finish a quilt. Have checked out sales online already this week and the prices make me shake my head, $12 a yard is not a sale to me. Will go back and look at MDG one more time and order some backing for several quilts. Looks like I'll be shopping more and more from my stash! Phooey!

Went to Joanns today and the fabric was 20% off! I used to get better deals with their coupons.

I buy a lot of fabric from Michael's online. Have been doing so for quite sometime. Yardage, precuts, etc.

I read an interesting FB post, maybe someone posted it already. Basically JoAnn business model was to buy up competitors and drive smaller shops out of business. Kind of like Walmart. So, if "Jo-Ann is the only fabric store near me!!" that is by design.

I agree, Michaels should expand their fabric line. Great opportunity for them.
