The best secret to end of bolt specials is to NOT say how much you want, take the bolt up to the cutting counter, and ask how much is left on the bolt. Then hem and haw until the wonderful lady (or guy) behind the counter says, "If you take all of it I can give it to you for 20% off." As long as you finish off the bolt, you get the deal on whatever yardage is left. You don't really need to hem and haw-I just do that because I am standing there going 90 miles an hour in my head on what I can do with it--lol. The 20% is for the entire amount left on the bolt, not what is left after asking for a certain amount. That is my experience anyway with 'end of bolts'. I don't go to Hancock Fabrics and ask for it nor expect the deal though. Our local one does not honor this anyway. But our LQS and several others I have been to will do this. Kudos to LQS's!

I am very happy that you found such a wonderful Joann employee, unfortunatly they are few and far between. I live near a very large store and the employees, are over worked and underpaid and their attitudes reflect it. The store is always dirty, and the fabric in disarray, doesn't matter the time of day or day of the week..... I avoid that store at all costs.....

My Joann's in Texas won't give end of bolt reduced prices. If it is on the bolt you pay full price. If 1/8 or 1/16 of a yard is left, they will cut it off and leave it on the bolt for someone else to put with the remnants. No bargains there and no extra inches in their cuts to make sure you get a straight edge. I try never to buy there.

When I worked at Joann's anything less than a yard over what you ask for that is left on the bolt, they usually offer it to you at 50% the current price. It was at least 10 years since I paid to work there :-) but I never was told about an end of bolt discount. I got my first cat when I worked there, named her Remnant.

That is how my Jo'anns is ... they used to offer a end of bolt .. but not for years. If its anything more that what you asked for they cut it off. .. throw it a pile .. some make it to remmnants. They used to offer a discount if there wa a flaw in the fabric as well... not any more they cut that portion up into little pieces and toss into the trash.

My Daughter was charged full price for remnants that she bought, after checking her receipt she went back in and told them. They gave her back the money she should have saved. We really have to watch the ones we go to, two and our area.

I have been overcharged so many times at our JoAnn's that I check everything on the receipt before I leave the cashier's line. It irritates the cashier and the peope waiting in line. I'm sorry, but I live a considerable distance from the store and gas is too expensive to make an extra trip.

You who have good, well-managed JoAnn stores are lucky.

Hmm...you wouldn't be somewhere around Lafayette would you? I was in the Lafayette store today, bought what was left on a bolt, but since the fabric was on sale I still got a discount. And I had a coupon for an additional $5 off my purchase!
