It Just Doesn’t Look Right ...

I have cut up the blocks from a panel for a child’s quilt. I’ve sewn the first few together with a sashing but I’m not liking the way it looks. (1st photo). Now I’m thinking each block needs a border to frame it - what do you think (2nd photo) or is there something else I can do?

Cute panel but yes, I like the bright happy frame.

You could keep the work you have already done. Then sash each quadrant with that fabulous and colorful fabric. Fun stuff!
For ideas, this is one of my favorite tutorials. I know you didn't ask but just sending it along to you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGt6_pWo6zs |
Yes, a frame would help liven it up!

Thank you for your help - it’s a pity the piece of fabric I have used as a frame is all I have left of it!

I like the frame. It adds color.

I see I am in the minority’s but I like the first picture better. Yes it is low key but in my opinion the bright fabric washes out the panel.

I think it needs more black. Like maybe solid black frames? It would pick up the black from each animal and help them stand out.
