I don't know, olive green and purple? I would love to see it in shades of blue. I don't know anyone whose bedroom is done in shades of olive green and purple.

I was looking through the new Keepsake catalog and noticed a lot of quilt kits, etc in colors that make me go bleh....

Am I being oldfashioned? Are these the new modern colors? I'm not even going to mention the price...

Actually, as I look at it I see primarily blue and white. I think it would look lovely in a blue room. It wouldn't take much fabric to replace the olive green with something else... like maybe lime?

Stitchit123 09-07-2011 10:42 AM

I'd have to get rid of the purples-I like the olive green but I 'd only make that quilt if it was a special request from some one in the family

MargeD 09-07-2011 10:48 AM

No, I agree that the colors are so 60's, and while I was a young (I specify young) woman I wore some of those colors (wish someone had warned me about how I looked in that orange raincoat - I shudder to think about it now), but I've had enough olive green to last me a lifetime. I've seen the price, would never pay it. The pattern isn't bad, but the colors - the designer definitely missed the boat on those.

I like it! Sure I wouldn't pay the catalog price.

Sadiemae 09-07-2011 11:03 AM

The more I look at it, the more I just don't like the blue.

Scissor Queen 09-07-2011 11:19 AM

Personally I think the white is too stark and the blue too pale with that dark olive green. I would replace the white with maybe a white on cream and the blue with darker purples. Once you replace those two then the dark green will lay back like it's supposed to.

sewgarden 09-07-2011 12:30 PM

I really like it

ShabbyTabby 09-07-2011 12:37 PM

I love purple but olive green just doesn't do it for me.

wraez 09-07-2011 01:02 PM

I don't like the green in there and I wouldn't do that particular pattern anyway ... to fussy for me.

ree-nee 09-07-2011 01:19 PM

i have been to a home with Easter egg purple walls and the very green color you mentioned on the carpet. The room was georgeous. Needless to say my room is blue and I agree on the bleh

Same here.

I think I would have to pass on that one., It has no zing anywhere. All the colors are ok, they just don't go together for me. To eachhis own I guess

damaquilts 09-07-2011 02:49 PM

I am not enamored of the colors either but I think in this case the green is acting as a neutral to set off the other colors. A different color green would , IMO, value wise, blend too much. too light and it blends with the white too bright and it competes with the blues and purples

I like the center, but not the border or color. Reminds me too much of argyle sock pattern. I actually like olive in the right place and am thinking of painting my house light olive with cream trim and brown porch floor. (It's a Craftsman bungalow.) Not sure what DH will think!

katesnanna 09-07-2011 03:34 PM

Not my cup of tea at all.

Dee 09-07-2011 03:52 PM

Love your quilt and colors.

annpryor 09-07-2011 04:03 PM

I like it but maybe I am strange. Ha! Ha!

quilttiludrop 09-07-2011 04:35 PM

The overall effect is breathtaking. However, I agree with everyone that were you to look at the avocado green by itself, I probably would not select it.

749janet 09-07-2011 05:21 PM

I have a quilt that has purple flowers in it with kinda olive green leaves and I love it. Don't see anything wrong with purple and olive green.

#1piecemaker 09-07-2011 06:36 PM

I like the shade of blue and purple too. But, the green with them, I'm not so sure about.

ConnieF 09-08-2011 12:21 AM

Purplesand greenare great tog but those shades are a bit off but I do not care for the quilt...never been crazy about madilion looking quilts.... and that one is deff cetered...
could ve a bit brighter or lighter either way would be better... brighter for me.

chairjogger 09-08-2011 12:29 AM

I drafted for years in the engineering field.. I see the advantage as to knowing how much fabric to purchase with a quilt pattern...but I do not see the advantage to the color pallet of this new design on the computer.

really saddens me.. We have wonderful talent in the "new world" of quilting.. I am so very sorry to see it so canned.

I vote .. No, it is not "just (you)".... sigh.

Me too! I really enjoy seeing colors put together in 'differnet' ways. I really like purple and oive and am just completing a quilt in those colors. As someone else said 'viv la diffrance' (sorry, I have trouble spelling in English much less French)!

svenskaflicka1 09-08-2011 07:53 AM

i'm already of the "new" colorways, too. i didn't like them back in the 60s and 70s, and i don't like them now. been there, done that--lived through it once, and don't have to do it again.

Arleners 09-08-2011 09:11 AM

Beautiful design - lousy colors
IMHO
:(

Love the pattern, but I would change those colors also!

chairjogger 09-08-2011 11:21 AM

wow ! that pops !

I haven't seen this particular design, but one very close to it, in person. It is striking. It contrasts well, and at a distance it doesn't look odd. The purple in the one I saw was so dark you had to get close to see that it was purple. I didn't care for the colors, not my choice. But the quilt was striking. :)

I was refering to the author's original picture when talking about the design.
the second one I like. the purple is an accent. It's like looking at Irises, they are purple with greens. :)

Little Sue 4.9 09-14-2011 09:39 AM

Depending on the shade I like Sage and grape, aqua and grape
BUT the only green I like is money it goes with everthing I wear or quilt.
