or would you prefer this quilt kit in different colors

I don't know, olive green and purple? I would love to see it in shades of blue. I don't know anyone whose bedroom is done in shades of olive green and purple.

I was looking through the new Keepsake catalog and noticed a lot of quilt kits, etc in colors that make me go bleh....

Am I being oldfashioned? Are these the new modern colors? I'm not even going to mention the price...

Gramie bj 09-06-2011 11:47 AM

Do you remember Avacodo green, paired with bright yellow, or orange? Now I've done it ! Showed my age again! LOL

Granny Quilter 09-06-2011 11:49 AM

I don't like the colors either.

ptquilts 09-06-2011 11:51 AM

yes, and I hated those colors then and now!!
Just an aside, our neighbors went to take up some avocado green shag carpet in their living room, found out the house, which was modular, had been carpeted BEFORE the interior walls were put up. So the carpet went under the inside walls. What a mess.

valsma 09-06-2011 11:52 AM

I like the blues and purples but not so much the other colors. They don't go very well, in my opinion.

Still like those colors together.

We had a couch with the fabric in those colors on cream along with blue and brown. it was a floral - but not "flowery" - Jacobean, maybe? type of design.

If I could get that couch again (in good condition), I'd snatch it up in a heart-beat!

The quilt you showed - it is pretty - but also kind of blah.

lyndaloo 09-06-2011 12:14 PM

I don't like that green at all.

Ooooh, I love those colors!
:)

TrenbeathRanch 09-06-2011 12:23 PM

Er, I think it's a pretty quilt...vive la difference!

Raising my hand. :)

DebraK 09-06-2011 12:37 PM

I love the green and purple. Very wine country.

mom-6 09-06-2011 12:39 PM

The quilt is gorgeous, but I personally would prefer a different shade of green, maybe lighter or else more of a true green or even a teal. But those are my favorite greens so I might be a bit prejudiced!

suezq 09-06-2011 12:44 PM

I agree with you, it is blah. DIdn't like the combo years ago and still feel the same. Would love various shades of blues and purples, but green is definitely out.

greensleeves 09-06-2011 01:04 PM

I like! Nothing in my house works with purple but I do like the green/purple combo.

wuv2quilt 09-06-2011 01:10 PM

I'm with you...I like the design, NOT the colors.

chickadeee55 09-06-2011 01:12 PM

I would like to see it in different colors. Maybe it needs something to make it pop alittle.

the "designer" - it is a designer BOM kit. I wonder, if they ever thought to offer it in 2 color schemes and see which one sells better.

caspharm 09-06-2011 01:42 PM

I agree, it's blah. Definitely, prefer at least a different shade of green. It takes away from the pattern

sewmary 09-06-2011 01:51 PM

I like the design and colors.

dunster 09-06-2011 01:55 PM

I just looked at the kits online, and - hate to tell you this - but there are lots of quilt kits in those colors. Maybe the powers that be have decided those are the "in" colors for the next year.

babeyruth 09-06-2011 01:58 PM

I love the olive and eggplant colors, they are very in. The blue no so much, but I think it is still a beautiful quilt!

ptquilts 09-06-2011 01:59 PM

I remember many years ago, hearing an "expert" saying how the new colors were going to be desert tones or some such thing.

I kept making quilts in colonial blues and roses and they kept on selling.

cmagee84 09-06-2011 02:06 PM

I LOVE purple and green together! But that green is a little odd for my taste. Also, looking at it makes me dizzy! LOL

I have purple all over my house...I am the Purple Quilter after all! :)

alikat110 09-06-2011 02:13 PM

I have to say, I like the colors!!!! Would rather see them in person tho! Good thing colorways are a way to individualize our quilts!!!!

Peckish 09-06-2011 02:29 PM

I think the olive is a bit too dark, I wish it was more of a sage green. However, I'm not a big fan of blue, and I think that bothers me more than the olive.

It's also a fairly busy quilt!

dunster 09-06-2011 02:34 PM

Okay, I'm going to be really critical and I hope it doesn't get me in trouble. I keep looking at that quilt, and I don't think it's really the colors that bother me. I feel like the dark outer borders completely overpower the quilt's center, both in size and value. And the thin dark inner border doesn't look like it belongs. Do you think it was added just to make the other measurements work out right? The beautiful center star is lost, because it is so light compared to the rest of the quilt. There are some beautiful elements to the quilt, but when put together there's just too much going on. (I hope that didn't sound like the quilt police.)

joyce blint 09-06-2011 02:38 PM

Might be pretty in oranges/rusts, yellows, and brown/tans.

wolfkitty 09-06-2011 02:53 PM

I don't care for the olive green & purple, or even just the olive green at all, for the most part.

are you kidding?.....who does that kind of stupid thing? Never in my life heard of doing that.

Modular home and Mobile home builders used to do it as a cost savings. Get the floor down, throw the carpeting and linoleum/vinyl down then put the walls up. My sister bought a new avocado and gold decorated mobile home back in the 70's and hers was carpeted that way. She also had many gouges and cuts in the flooring from careless builders. Meh - you get what you pay for i suppose.

I don't care for the blues in the quilt; something about them is 'off'. The whole quilt is not something I would choose.

Sadiemae 09-06-2011 03:05 PM

Not for me, but to each his own.

Vivian Ketron 09-06-2011 03:33 PM

I like the quilt and I love the colors.

peaceandjoy 09-06-2011 03:36 PM

Although I don't buy kits, my color preferences are greens and purples - or reds. I'm not a big fan of blues. I actually have a Bonnie Hunter pattern (My Blue Heaven) about half done and have put it away. Too much blue, really wish I'd used something else!

cathyvv 09-06-2011 04:33 PM

I think it's lovely, but keep in mind that I am somewhat color challenged and green is one of the most challenging colors.

As for purple, years ago, we bought a house where the master bedroom was a lavender color. My husband loved it, I hated it. I think he loved it because he didn't want to have to paint it!

gramajo 09-06-2011 05:02 PM

It's different, but kind of restful.

CruisingStef 09-06-2011 05:25 PM

It is very Ho-hum. In my opinion, something bright would have been better. Love blues and greens together, but need to liven colors up.

vivoaks 09-06-2011 06:04 PM

I like purple, but I'm not much for olive green. Shades of blue would be nice.
