My Bernina dealer told us NOT TO USE C & C thread in our machines. They changed the way they process it and use short strands then wax it to keep it together and to keep the fuzz down. It leaves a wax buildup in your machine and it is very hard to clean. It can affect the way your thread goes through the tension and really messes it up. The older C&C thread is okay but I don't know when they changed it so why take a chance.

Lots of good info in this topic. I use C&C in my Kenmore, but never in my Brother. Recenlty, I've had lots of problems with my bobbin. Maybe I'll switch back to Gutterman sp? and see if that makes a difference?

I cannot begin to tell you how many spools of C & C I have used over the years. Never had a problem, even the ones that are 40+ (15 cents marked on the wooden spool) years old.

Same here.

My machine refuses to use C&C Dual Duty for regular sewing. The larger spools of C&C cotton thread have a huge amount of lint and you need to clean out around the bobbin frequently. I use a lot of different threads, and my favorites are Mako Aurifil and the Connecting Threads Essential Cotton (more affordable)>

I went over to Superior thread and bought a lot of different colors from the Bottom Line. Absolutely love it, strong but very very thin. It is so strong you can almost floss your teeth with it, Just kidding, but you can fill your bobbin with a lot of thread with it.

Way to work in a refference to "teeth" LOL, your's look very nice, are you still smiling everytime you pass a mirror?

I had a machine that I kept having problems with and I took it to the "doctor". He said to leave Coats and Clarks alone, as far as using it on my machine!

Same here and absolutely love the varigated Coats and Clark thread!

Ditto! I love C &C threads although I am still trying to adapt to the new spools. Love the variegated threads! My machine hates all "invisible" thread. Otherwise it doesn't know the difference. froggyintexas

lately, C&C thread does not live up the reputation they use to have. I don't buy it and I'll be glad when I get the stuff I still have all used up.

I don't like C & C thread either!
