Just when I've agreed to a fabric moratorium.......

Moda comes out with a new line of fabric called Audra's Iris Garden. I'm nuts about floral fabrics. I have over 50 varieties of irises in my various flower beds. Needless to say I love irises. These are the most beautiful fabrics I have seen in a long time. They will be available in January. I can almost feel them. Moda's fabrics are my favorites. They sew so beautifully, feel like silk and wash really well. Just google "Audra's Iris Garden fabrics" and you'll see what I mean. I may have to break my moratorium before it even starts. Maybe I could just buy a few charm packs.......

bearisgray 12-10-2012 06:17 AM

If it's that unique - buy yardage! Some prints have such short runs that it is necessary to get it when one sees it.

normasews 12-10-2012 06:27 AM

Buy while you can. Fabric collections are here and gone before you even know it. I know I'm not much help with your fabric moratorium. :0)

pinkcastle 12-10-2012 06:36 AM

Maybe you can make an exception or start your fabric moratorium in February!

quiltstringz 12-10-2012 07:22 AM

Maybe you could just buy 1 piece - your favorite out of the group.

Raggiemom 12-10-2012 07:24 AM

If you like it that much, I would buy it. I just saw it on ebay and www.fatquartershop.com so you could buy it now and still do the fabric moratorium in 2013!

Now that's an enabler!!!

0tis 12-10-2012 07:58 AM

I know what you mean - I have a weakness for Moda fabrics esp pre-cuts. Maybe you could buy a layer cake or jelly roll - that way you aren't spending too much and it will hardly add to your current stash - really the fabrics are only available for a short time - then its impossible to find the fabric later on.

LTeachergeorge 12-10-2012 08:01 AM

My LQS got the precuts (charms, jelly rolls and layer cakes) in on Friday. You are not exaggerating!! It is the most beautiful fabric I've seen for a long (and I'm not even a gardener. I love a bunch of the coordinating fabrics also. I'm sure I'll break 2013's moratorium to buy some!!!

janedee 12-10-2012 08:02 AM

Just had a look - very very pretty

I don't think I could pick just one. They are all really pretty. There isn't one of them I don't like. I want 2 yards of each of them.

mighty 12-10-2012 08:15 AM

If it calling to you, I say buy it!!!!

SandyinZ4 12-10-2012 08:20 AM

I think the fabric moratorium does not have quilt police so if something exceptional comes along, I won't be afraid to break my own rules. It is all up to the individual. I will still try to use what I have in my stash and work on my many UFO's but I have two quilts to make in next 18 months and know that I do not have the right fabrics so will have to buy things that will work for them. One will be my own design and one is a Celtic pattern with my own adaptation.

Then get it! Sometimes it is impossible to go cold turkey! I have been on a fabric diet since July and I have done very well, even after going to the AQS show in Grand Rapids. I was "told" to buy a FQ bundle that I fell in love with because I had been such a good girl on my diet. I am just making a conscious effort to not buy willy nilly. But if I found a fabric that made me drool and I couldn't stop thinking about it, I would definately buy it!

lfstamper 12-10-2012 08:25 AM

Gorgeous collection...go for it! I know we are no help....sorry.

rjwilder 12-10-2012 08:26 AM

I signed for for the fabric moratorium and I went to all my favorite LQS's this weekend and purchased what I "needed" and informed them I wouldn't be in for a while. I think they all have bets on how long I'll last. I only bought some blenders, Christmas fabric that was in sale and a few other things that I fell in love with. We're going away on the 23rd so no more fabric shopping for me until 12/31/2013.

bearisgray 12-10-2012 08:30 AM

I just did google that collection - not what I expected - my Mom had maybe 100 different varieties of iris in her garden -

crafty pat 12-10-2012 09:23 AM

If you really love it that much buy yardage or you will never forgive yourself after it is gone and you can't find it anymore. Been there, done that.

patski 12-10-2012 09:50 AM

its' like a diet, start next month! LOL that is why stashes keep growing!

Jennie and Me 12-10-2012 10:13 AM

It doesn't start until Jan. 1st, so you have time to buy!! How's that for enabling?!

MadQuilter 12-10-2012 11:33 AM

I understand! Just when I thought I had my spending under control, Connecting Threads sent out their clearance catalog and DH said: "Oh honey, I'm sure you'll find something you like." (He was right.)

Lori S 12-10-2012 12:20 PM

Well one option is to request this as a gift for Chrstmas ( a pre- order) or some other occassion .. Valentines, Washington's Birthday .... or make reallyeasy ... ask for a gift card!!

cowgirlquilter 12-10-2012 01:00 PM

Awwwwww.....waving my magic wand to erase your moratorium away! There! All is okay!

KSellers 12-10-2012 01:20 PM

If I remember correctly, your moratorium said you could buy quilt backings and fabric for borders -- or to finish quilts. So order the fabric for a "quilt back" and you can always decide to change your mind and use it for a front (hehe) then you may need a couple of complimentary fabrics for borders and such! I can always find a way in my mind to rationalize it.

karenpatrick 12-10-2012 02:21 PM

You guys are so good. I'm convinced. I'm asking for this for Christmas. Thanks for the advice guys.

Charming 12-10-2012 03:22 PM

Maybe you could buy a layer cake or jelly roll

I say go big or go home :D

keelybird57 12-11-2012 03:58 AM

My moratorium begins on January 1. So I am stocking up! I suggest you do the same! And that fabric is beautiful.

Teacup 12-11-2012 04:09 AM

You know, if you love irises that much that you have 50 varieties, and this fabric line is unique and calls to you that strongly, then get it. I've passed on a few pieces of fabric that really, really called out to me (much more than just, boy that's really pretty). Five years later I still regret that I didn't get it. I've spent time googling trying to track it down and it's just not available. I kick myself for passing it up. Start your fabric diet after this with the commitment to not buy after this purchase.

sandy l 12-11-2012 04:25 AM

To heck with moratorium, grab it will you can. It is beautiful

meanmom 12-11-2012 04:41 AM

Talk someone in to buying it for you for Christmas, them you don't have to feel guilty. Or as someone else said there are no quilt police. I have myself on a diet not a moratorium. I have only bought a little fabric for the last year. Mostly just bits and pieces to finish up projects. I also have been making myself finish at least one UFO before I can start something else. I have a project I have been dying to start that I won't let myself start until I have several more UFO's done.

are ya serious??? Buy it all!!!

solstice3 12-11-2012 06:10 AM

OMG ...don't mention the Iris!!!! (my favorite flower) My moritorium lasted til I walked into the clearance room at the LQS. $65 later...and that was being overly frugal and selective... I left. Sad to say, dreams last night of returning for more!!! Help me, Dr. Phil! :-)

Oooooh, you need those:)

Daisy Dew 12-11-2012 08:10 AM

Dog gone it!!!! When will I ever use up my other 999 yrds!

charhend 12-11-2012 08:32 AM

I gave up on my "I will not buy anymore fabric" because Connecting Threads had a wonderful sale. Fabric for $3.00 a yard. I purchased tons of yardage for quilt backings and a little extra just because! Such a bad addiction.

nstitches4u 12-11-2012 09:25 AM

It is a beautiful line. Isn't it amazing how your friends on QB are helping you to rationalize breaking your fabric buying moratorium before it even starts? lol
