I am getting ready for my one mile walk, and then I am going to mow our next door neighbor's lawn and then I am going to sew a "Corn and Beans" block together and then I am going to finish up a Barn Quilt that I have made for my sister. Oh, I have laundry to do and ironing to do and put the flag out!!!!!! Will do some barbequing for us tonight. So that is about it for the day. Oh, I may do another Leslie Sansone walking exercise and another walk with the dog during the day sometime. That's about it!!!! Have a great day and God Bless all our laborers (of which my husband was one - for 34 years)!!!! Edie

So, what are you working on??

I am trying to finish up some Quilts for Kids. I am a couple weeks over the deadline, so want to get mine to be added to the kit they sent me. I quilted 3 quilts on the long arm yesterday. Today I am going to make a run to Joanns to see if I can find a complimentary fabric for the border on the one I am making now. Just going to hang around and try to finish up loose ends while we are having a rainy day.

Just finished working 5 days supervising/running the quilt show at the local county fair. If I do anything today, it will be in my recliner with my feet up.

I am working on a tube quilt for my dgd. Hope to get it done before Thanksgiving, this year. LOL.

Krystyna 09-05-2011 04:06 AM

Patchsamkim, that is a wonderful kindness. Yet another example of how loving quilters are.

I am working on two black and white doll quilts for this month's swap. Always so much fun.

AllAboutScraps 09-05-2011 04:11 AM

I had planned to go cubbing today, but the weather nixed that....So, I think I'll work on FMQ the quilts I have prepared as gifts for my niece and nephew and should have done all ready. Summer is my outdoor time so I don't get much sewing done. I have too many projects - not enough time. Sound familiar?

colwoods 09-05-2011 04:12 AM

I am working on a Countdown to Halloween calendar for my grandsons.

BeckiQuilts 09-05-2011 04:33 AM

Have my plates ready for the blocks on my very first Dresden Plate quilt. Having a little difficulty measuring exactly how W and L I want the quilt. The bed is King size, and the 25 inch blocks look enormous to me. Wish me luck while we celebrate Labor Day!

I am doing something I bet few of you have done. I am patching a quilt that my sister made when she was in the 7th grade! We are both retired now and Mama had it quilted for her and gave it to her for Christmas when she was a newly wed. It's the only quilt she's ever done but she has used the heck out of it! It is in shreds and realistically isn't salvageable BUT she asked me to fix it even with patches as she called it. SO I am Patching my sister's quilt!

Linda OH 09-05-2011 04:43 AM

I am working on a Double Wedding Ring quilt. I have scheduled time with a long armer to have it quilted in November.

Number 3 daughter wants an art quilt that I have been working on for months and a zillion stitches. She also wants to see who can make the best anime rag doll with costume(very fun, have to make my own pattern). Number 1 daughter wants an Elizebethan costume for Halloween(also fun) My pottery partner wants to do glazing and number 2 daughter says her sewing machine is broken. Think I'll go make ice cream and eat it all.

Cattyqwltr 09-05-2011 05:02 AM

Adding borders to a commissioned t-shirt quilt. Trimming the threads from another small commissioned quilt and getting some work done on some quilts that I want to give as gifts.

merchjag 09-05-2011 05:06 AM

I'm working on a t-shirt quilt for a friend whose husband(age 53) passed away, He was an avid motorcycle man and he had lots of t shirts. She asked me if I would make a quilt because she couldn't bear the thought of someone wearing his t's.Her grief is so heartbreaking,I hope this will help.

Busy Weekend!

My best to your friend. I've been fighting for the last 3 years. It's hard, but it's not neccisarily a death sentence anymore. I believe attitude is 90% of beating it. She needs to Fight Like a Girl!!!

Love the geckos!!!!!!!!!

cheaha39 09-05-2011 05:10 AM

Too busy enjoying our long awaited rain to pay much attention to quilting. Tonight I will cut strips for a long cabin.

Darlene516 09-05-2011 05:10 AM

I'm not quilting this weekend. I volunteered to make a coworker a Christening dress for her newborn daughter. I have 2 weeks to finish it. The catch is that I'm making it from her wedding dress. It took me 2 weeks to get up the nerve to cut into it and 5 hours to figure out how to get all the necessary pieces cut out of the available fabric. You wuld think big wedding dress- tiny baby= plenty of fabric. Not necessarily the case, but managed to do it. Wish me luck.

thomp116 09-05-2011 05:11 AM

Canning salsa and tomatoes. Guess that doesn't count, huh? Ok, also been working on blocks for a sampler quilt.

#2. My next UFO- Hunters Star. After starting it I thought there wasn't enough contrast between the colors so I put it aside. I still think so but it will be good practice for my next HS.

Love the Gecko quilt!

Nurturing, caring, feeling the love and concern of others is so important to a cancer survivor and the ones touched by cancer. Hope the lucky stars bring her much luck through this battle.

I am almost finished quilting my "cheater baby teddy bears" quilt panel for a niece that should be arriving in a week. My goal is to do the binding today and hand stitch it down tonight. With all this RAIN, I think I may very well reach this goal.

quiltymom 09-05-2011 05:13 AM

I'm spliting my time between quilts for jids Project linus pillow pocket cases for kids and getting items around for swap!!!! Got to get started on stockings and cards for Operation Santa.

Zephyr 09-05-2011 05:15 AM

I'm just starting on the Shadowbox pattern by Mountspeek Creations. Need to go to the LQS for a bit more fabric in order to proceed. I'm putting "fun" things in the windows and it will be a graduation quilt of one of our grandsons.

Kath12 09-05-2011 05:16 AM

I'm working on a wall hanging sample for LQS. It is an oriental peacock WH. Beautiful colors (Black,Gold,Green,Rose Pink). I have the top pieced so today I'm writing up the pattern and quilting it. I hope to get it done for the Quilt Expo in Madison,WI. If not, she is vending at the Quilt show in Des Moines

QuiltingJaguar 09-05-2011 05:18 AM

Tacky down some pieces on my 911 wall hanging I did the week after 911 attack. I had to do something and made this with what I had and made me feel somewhat better. When I tack these little section will up load.

ccthomas 09-05-2011 05:20 AM

It is so important to feel the nuturing, caring, concern, and love during a cancer survivor's battle and all acts of kindness mean so much to her and her loved ones. Let's hope these "lucky stars" brings much LUCK to her.

I am wrapping up a "cheater quilt panel" of baby teddy bears for a "neice" that should be arriving in less than a week. If I stay focused today, I should get the binding on and tonight hand stitch the last binding stitches. With all this rain, I think I might actually reach this goal.

I don't think I could have quilted anything to express the rage, fears, hurts, sadness, and anger that I was feeling. I know I wrote and wrote and cried. I was just now thinking of what I could have expressed through a quilt. I guess I should have focused on the heros, the acts of kindness, and hope for our future.

Interesting.

BarbP 09-05-2011 05:34 AM

I'm working on a paper pieced wallhaning for a donation that my Guild is doing. When I get tired paper piecing I'm cutting out one of Bonnie Hunter's quilt patterns.

quilter2theend 09-05-2011 05:40 AM

Working on the orange quilt that is in my Avatar. I got the back done (it is going to be a reversible quilt). I am outline embroidering fall leaves around the outside of the top and have about 2 1/2 sections left to do. I then want to paint inside the leaves. After that it will be off to the quilter to finish. I have to say I made good progress over the weekend.

southernmema 09-05-2011 05:43 AM

Denim rag quilt.

babeyruth 09-05-2011 05:49 AM

Jennifer,

What a great pattern you found. I personally fear circles, but that pattern may be easier to follow.
Thank you for your service!

grannypat7925 09-05-2011 05:50 AM

What a great and caring thing to do for your friend. I am making more strip piecing blocks to finish out what I need for size quilt I will make. Will add sashing, probably black.

What a wonderful thing, making that special quilt for your friend! I wish her good luck. I have made two glow in the dark pillow cases, and a table topper for my son who is a teacher. I will quilt the table topper later this week. I think I have done a lot considering I have a stomach virus!

Cynthia Mosquera 09-05-2011 05:56 AM

God bless you for doing such a wonderful thing!

That is what I am hoping for too...I thought Lucky Stars was a very appropriate pattern to use for a quilt for her.

I will try to post a picture when I get the quilt done.

Sounds like lots of you are being productive this weekend whether quilting or otherwise.

Kim
