I am going to be quilting on a quilt I am making for someone I work with...she is 31 and has breast cancer and is going through chemo, then will have surgery, then more chemo and I wanted to make her a quilt to use while she is getting the chemo and to cuddle with to give her some comfort. It is pinks and browns and is the Lucky Star pattern. Basted it just a while ago, and hope to get it quilted tomorrow and then bound and to her before end of week.

So, what are you working on??

lovingmama 09-04-2011 03:09 PM

You are doing a wonderful thing. The quilt will help her getting through this difficult time of hers. I will be praying for your friend.

This is so nice of you to do something like this for her. May God bless you both!

I will be working on some pincushions, those cute little chicken pincushions. (There is a tutorial on this site here).

I am embroiderying 260 dragonflies on 5" blocks before I assemble the quilt... Very slow going, but I work on it - then take a little break to check the QB... etc... may get it done by Christmas.. ha ha

tsnana2000 09-04-2011 03:10 PM

That is so nice of you. I am working on 2 quilts they are the same pattern and fabrics so I decided to make them at the same time. Today I sandwiched each of them. I will have to wait for my thread to come in the mail before I can quilt them though. So later I will piece the binding for one of them and tomorrow I will cut out another quilt to work on.

katier825 09-04-2011 03:12 PM

Can't wait to see your Lucky Stars quilt...one of my favorite patterns!

I just finished a quilt top for my only planned Christmas quilt this year. I also finished up another top this week, an old project that I put aside because I didn't like it. It looks much better since I added borders. I haven't had a chance to post my pics. I am hoping to piece the back of that one tomorrow. It's going to be my experimental quilt using a panto based pattern on my domestic machine. I've got my Golden Threads paper and need to draw it out, then I can sandwich and quilt. I don't think I'll get to the quilting for a week or two though...life gets in the way sometimes.

I'm working on a tshirt quilt for my son. Just washed the red and hopefully got all the extra dye out, last water wasn't pink so think i'm ok. gotta get the backing ironed onto the tshirts and then figure out the final sizes. Will see how far I get.

Im working on a quilt top for my future DIL's mother. My DIL wants to give her mom a quilt for their wedding. Hold on to your fat quarters girls...its going to be black and white, cream and plum. Yes....you heard it right. Not sure how it will look but we'll see. Wedding is on the 10th, yup...next weekend. ugh! I took this project with me when we went up to the mountains for 2 wks, but procrastinated too much. Now I have to hussle. Wish me luck...

I am working on a christening gown for a great granddaughter who is to be born the week before Christmas.

nyelphaba 09-04-2011 03:39 PM

In the back of a closet I found ten yards of 100% wool, a tiny back and white herringbone, so I have been making a winter blanket for our bed. Today is our 35th wedding anniversary.

mhunt1717 09-04-2011 03:52 PM

I'm working on the McCall's "America the Beautiful" series sampler quilt. Very fun!

I'm working on a flayed edge bullseye quilt. I have the background square cut. Now just need to cut the circles and sew away. I have had a kit from connecting threads (Bed in Breakfast collect) for a few years and have done nothing with it but stare at it. It feels so good finally cutting into the fabric for another project. Link to the directions below.

We have had a rough week here (hubby had a kidney stone that had to be extracted and I have bronchitis) but I'm still sewing! Making 2 mug rugs, and working on my first D9P. It's pretty cool looking, I must say.

Need to get off here and get back to my sewing. :)

Am visiting my home/sister/family in NJ. I have a quilt top in progress here, and work on it every time I come to NJ. It's taking me much longer than I thought it would - it must be the family distractions around here!

susieqwva 09-04-2011 04:05 PM

jillnjo 09-04-2011 04:10 PM

I'm working on a mini quilt for a swap, and it has lots of pieces(30 or more)in each block. I do enjoy it,though, and there is only 9 blocks!

Need to finish quilting my Whacko Geckos. It's a Graduation/Off to College present for a young friend.

Pillow panel "Red Hat" LogCabin that my mom has asked me to make for my Aunt. It was due last year, lol

Yellow Brick Road in purples for a Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser.

Then a quilt some one has asked me to make for a new baby.

We spent Fri-Sun collecting strollers from several people who donated them through the internet groups Craigslist and Freecyle. Strollers are going to the local Ronald McDonald House. There was a story on the news on Thursday that they were needing them for the patients to use while they were staying at the house.

Busy Weekend!

My best to your friend. I've been fighting for the last 3 years. It's hard, but it's not neccisarily a death sentence anymore. I believe attitude is 90% of beating it. She needs to Fight Like a Girl!!!

Made my first ever Dear Jane block! Worked on it last night until the transformer on the pole next door blew up and we lost power so went to bed, finished it today. Might do a little quilting tonight before bed.

Janet Espeleta 09-04-2011 04:33 PM

What a nice gift for your friend.

I am going to demo hand quilting at a Pioneer Festival tomorrow. I hope lots of people come to this as it always makes this sort of thing more enjoyable.

Tweety2911 09-04-2011 04:40 PM

Ran out of border fabric and it finally came in so I got to sew the borders on today. Now to decide how I want the backing.

ibex94 09-04-2011 04:46 PM

I'm working on gathering the fabric for a halloween quilt based on the fabshophop july 2011 halloween quilt. I meant to get started on the BOM house blocks I found on this site but am goofing off too much. Maybe tomorrow, lol.

valsma 09-04-2011 04:50 PM

I was hoping to finish up the quilting on my dads lap quilt, which I can't seem to get to, and maybe get some more quilting done on my quilting tool tote. It doesn't seem to be working out that way. Eveyone seems to want my attention. Oh well it will get done eventually.

alikat110 09-04-2011 05:00 PM

Finishing up two UFOs

carolaug 09-04-2011 05:09 PM

I am finishing binding a quilt tomorrow. Today I bought a new quilter to my favorite quilt shop and signed up for a class on making a bag. It calls for 48 5 inch blocks...so I bought some nice fatqtrs and came homewashed and cut them on my go...than I washed a bunch of other fabrics and have been cutting up shapes non stop...getting kits ready for the long winter...

hannajo 09-04-2011 05:10 PM

I've started a single Irish chain to give to my cousin & wife for their wedding next month. I'm so nervous, because it's the first quilt that isn't for immediate family. So far, so good! I'll be home all day tomorrow. DH and I have done lots of local traveling and driving in the past few weeks, so we're both looking forward to a day in!

Jingle 09-04-2011 05:10 PM

I finished sewing the binding onto a large Lover's Knot quilt Saturday Morning, Bought lots of fabrics Saturday, washed and folded the fabrics last night and today. Did some housework today, getting fabric ready for a whole cloth type quilt I am making for a man who gives us fresh cleaned trout. It is a patriotic theme fabric and don't want to cut it up. Will put borders on it and FMQ it.

lukeje 09-04-2011 05:13 PM

Just finished lap quilt made from deer panel. Added three borders to make longer....now on to something new....yea

SharBear 09-04-2011 05:14 PM

I'm sure every stitch of loving care will be appreciated by your friend.

I FMQ'd 5 childrens quilts for our Church ministry - the quilts go to the hospital ER and local shelter. Now I'm icing my tendonitis elbow. Can't be sure if it is hurting due to FMQ or using the mouse to see what you are all doing!

peaceandjoy 09-04-2011 05:17 PM

Chain of Faith from Moda Bakeshop. I saw it on the designer's blog and fell in love. Unfortunately, I spent yesterday dawdling around Watkins Glen when I went to pick up a quilt that I had LA'd, so am not as far as I'd hoped.

Still could get the top done this weekend, except I had to clean the house. Blech! That's a waste of hours sewing time!

running1 09-04-2011 05:18 PM

I'm practicing some FMQ, sandwiching two tops I've had completed for years, going to the grocery store (grumble), and, hmmmmm, just enjoying the day... any takers on how much of all that I'll actually get accomplished???

And I think what you're doing for your friend will bring much comfort!! very sweet....
