I use Deb Tucker's rulers for Lemoyne Star and also for Hunters Star and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them. They go together so easily and the results are fabulous. A lot of quilters don't like to piece and then trim down, but I think it gives ME really accurate results.

There is a very, very good tutorial, step by step, in the current issue of (I think) American Patchwork and Quilting. It makes a Lone Star, not Lemoyne, but would be great for you. The quilt is shown on the cover in deep jewel colored batiks.

I've used the Deb Tucker ruler and they came out beautiful. There are so many ways to do it, everyone has their favorite.

Lemoyne star Ruler
I am working on a quilt that has 17 Lemoyne Stars and I went in search for a simpler way to construct this star than the one recommended to me in my pattern and I found a ruler that makes the job so much more manageable. It is called a Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star ruler and I ordered the ruler on the web. The web address is www.studio180design.net. It is $29.00 and you can type in rapid fire lemoyne star on your search engine and it will bring up several websites on UTUBE that demonstrates how to use the ruler. Believe me....this is so much easier than sewing a lot of Y seams. Good Luck!

I found a pattern that I wanted to make in a magazine that required a template due to the size. I took the template to a local office stamp manufacturer. They made an exact copy including cutting, sewing and stop points. I bought wash out ink pads. I stamp my pattern on my fabric, trim and sew away without any problems.Good luck and happy sewing!

I made a very large lemoyne star quilt that had four stars in each block. I used a Marti Michelle ruller. It was the hardest quilt I have ever pieced. good luck!

I just used the 45 degree line on my ruler and used the pattern in the Stack and Whack book.
Made a few quilts using that method. Some S & W and some not. |
